Silwood Cottage is close to the University of Cape Town, Cavendish Square, Silwood shopping centre, Red Cross Hospital, Rondebosch train station, Bishops school and Riverside Mall. It is a 15 minute drive to Cape Town Airport, V & A Waterfront and Kirstenbosch botanical gardens. The neighbourhood is quiet, with tree-lined streets and the garden has abundant birdlife. The cottage is suitable for couples, single people, business travelers, and families with a teenager or a small child.

The neighbourhood is peaceful and populated by families with children who go to schools in the area. The Silwood area has many typical Victorian houses with high ceilings, wooden floors and large gardens. Birdlife abounds and there are many large trees which make for cool shade in the hot summer months.
