Gloria is a very sweet host. She comes and goes throughout the day but if you need something, there is a handyman or a helper around the house. The first floor is her private home, the second and third are for guests. I was only able to access the roof once by chance, although it is in the photos, it was mostly locked. I had some trouble finding the house as the actual number was never give to me, just coordinates that I could pull up from (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) maps. Luckily people in Cartagena are very friendly and people noticed I was looking for something and helped me find her place. The room is what it is; it has 3 beds, I was only one person but have some extra room to spread out wasn't bad. Theres one tiny window so not much natural light. The bathroom is shared, this feels like a hostel almost but more intimate as it is clearly her home. I had to ask someone for a towel, and to put toilet paper in the bathroom. I didn't use the kitchen because I love all the street food but it looked pretty bare anyway, I didn't even see salt. I think that it's in the perfect area, and that Gloria is great but they have a ways to go.

Response from Gloria:

Our stay with Gloria was lovely -- her house is a beautiful, old colonial house in the residential San Diego neighborhood of the old city. It's walkable to everything downtown (5-10 minute walk to nearly everywhere), but is nice and quiet at night. Gloria is very kind, open, and easy to talk to. The room we stayed in was on the second floor up a tight spiral staircase that could be challenging for some guests, but fine for us. There's a private kitchen on the second floor which we didn't use but was well equipped. The house has a lovely terrace on the third floor that, while it doesn't have a view beyond the street, is lovely and cool at night. When we arrived, we forgot to ask for towels and were towel-less our first day. While you dry nearly immediately in Cartagena, we should've made sure the bathroom was equipped. The terrace is also locked, so ask for the keys. If you maintain good communication you'll be fine! Gracias por su hospitalidad, Gloria!

Gloria's place is in the old town. You can walk around it and enjoy the beautiful architecture of old Cartagena. If you are looking for a private place with not much contact with your host, this is the place. We ran into Gloria just a few times asking for some toilet paper and towels. Gloria is going to give you keys for your room and for the hostel, so feel free to enjoy some eclectic nights at Cartagena with out feeling worried for get your dorm nor bother your host. We enjoyed this place, the terrace where a dining table was ready to use, and the possibility to cook our meal. The place could be a little cleaner. I recommend this place.

It was a great place, but it was very hot in the room we stayed in. We were moved to a three bed room for a couple days and that was much cooler. The location is great, right in the old city and Gloria was kind to help us exchange money when there were no casa de Cambios open. :)
