A great place to chill out and enjoy the view of Ella Rock.

Price is for a double room with attached bathroom and there are three rooms available.

The space

Ajith’s built three beautiful double rooms on top of his own house, especially to host guests. There are two double rooms with attached bathrooms, huge windows with stunning views over the green jungle in front of Ella Rock. One of the bedrooms have a view of Ella Rock itself. The third double room will be available soon and will have a private bathroom outside the room (no attached bathroom). The guestrooms share a spacious common verandah and a balcony with Ella Rock views, where guests can chill out and have meals.

Interaction with guests

Mr. Ajith has been a mathematics teacher in a local school for the last 25 years. He’s saved up to invest in his homestay that he runs together with his wife. She helps with preparing meals and cleaning, while he can arrange transport services upon prior notice. Nice people :)

The host was very welcoming and nice. The place is located on a beautiful hill overlooking town, but pretty far away from the centre. The house is in the middle of construction and clearly big part of it needs finishing. Room is smaller than you could assume based on pictures provided.

The views from Ajith's house are spectacular, and he went out of his way to make sure our every needs were met. It's slightly out of the centre, which we liked, but you will need to rely on tuk tuks to get into the centre (5 min max). Overall a pretty dreamy stay.

We had a wonderful 2 nights stay here and enjoyed it to the max. The hosts were super friendly. The rooms are not big, but clean and fullfilling our needs. We enjoyed the stunning view from our room and the balkony. The breakfast (additional 350 rps.) was exceeding our expectations. We really digged in and were quite lazy afterwards, so we hanged on the balkony for a while and watched the monkeys playing in the trees right in front of us. The place is a bit further from the center. Situated on the hills. Kepp in mind that tuktuk will cost you add. 200 - 300 rps. I cant agree with the previous comment complaining about noise. Of course you will hear some kids playing at the school yards. But compared to other places I have stayed, this place is quite relaxing. Be aware that the house is still under construction. There was no work going on during our stay. But due to missing rails, I would not recommend this place to families wirh kids. Ella is a small village, but the restaurants and atmosphere are great. The hosts are both teacher, open minded, helping when u need advise and very very nice.

Information about the school and the noises in the valley should be given. Construction has not been finished. Price is too expansive for the third room.

If you want peace & tranquility, come here! The breakfast was a spread and the balcony view is amazing. We were welcomed very warmly & even though we stayed for a night, we never really want to leave.

Neverbeen User Profile

Neverbeen offers a wide variety of rare homes off the beaten track, from fisherman's huts and tree houses to heritage homes and tea estates. Our team hand-picks and visits every home and meet all hosts to make ensure guests have a positively memorable stay in places they've never been.

We provide travellers and home owners in challenging locations with access to one another, by offering communication services, online marketing services and tourism training, so that locals can make a living off their home and travellers can get to stay in places they have never been.

As such, Neverbeen works for a world in which everyone has the chance to earn income by renting out their home, regardless of language, internet access and tourism experience.

In Sri Lanka, Dishan manages our growing group of homes in cooperation with our scouts, while Rohan creates listings and provides service. In Amsterdam, Marten works out international growth plans. Our team of in-house programmers is constantly developing the platform itself and Ernst & Young does our finances.

The first country we're active in is Sri Lanka, a beautiful country with many undiscovered places to stay. Due to it recently having opened up to tourism after decades of conflict, it is a great place to start and pilot the Neverbeen concept. We plan to expand to ten countries before the end of 2017.
