Ishara offers a spacious triple room in his family home, with one double bed , a single bed and a bathroom attached. A little walk from the home there’s the railway track where people hike to Ella Rock. The small garden has a couple of jackfruit trees and anthurium flowers. This house is partly covered by a tea estate where they pluck tea during the tea season. Guests can use the family kitchen if desired.
Interaction with guests
Ishara is a 20 year-old, friendly lad who finished high school last year. Ishara lives with his mother and younger brother in his family home in separate spaces in the same home. Managing guests is their main source of income. Ishara knows Ella’s attractions well and can guide guests to Ella Rock, Little Adam's Peak, et cetera. His mom helps with preparing meals, especially local dishes such as 'milk rice' and can also do cooking classes for guests. Furthermore, Ishara can help guests with things like, arranging tours and transport.
Neverbeen offers a wide variety of rare homes off the beaten track, from fisherman's huts and tree houses to heritage homes and tea estates. Our team hand-picks and visits every home and meet all hosts to make ensure guests have a positively memorable stay in places they've never been.
We provide travellers and home owners in challenging locations with access to one another, by offering communication services, online marketing services and tourism training, so that locals can make a living off their home and travellers can get to stay in places they have never been.
As such, Neverbeen works for a world in which everyone has the chance to earn income by renting out their home, regardless of language, internet access and tourism experience.
In Sri Lanka, Dishan manages our growing group of homes in cooperation with our scouts, while Rohan creates listings and provides service. In Amsterdam, Marten works out international growth plans. Our team of in-house programmers is constantly developing the platform itself and Ernst & Young does our finances.
The first country we're active in is Sri Lanka, a beautiful country with many undiscovered places to stay. Due to it recently having opened up to tourism after decades of conflict, it is a great place to start and pilot the Neverbeen concept. We plan to expand to ten countries before the end of 2017.
