In 20+ years that we host paying guests, family & friends in the condo, Sandra is the first to complain. She is a person difficult to host and continiously demanding: late check-out? granted! early check-in [requested while she was virtually on the doorstep!] - granted! Gas in the BBQ? - obviously! Pool not overcrowded? - no! Address of the condo, access, parking lot and Wifi code - all to be found on AIRBNB & in our guidelines [which were most probably not read]!… Whatever the questions & the time of the day they were asked, our answers were kind, prompt and complete.
Sandra's review calls for a factual rectification, here it is:
Having checked the condo upside-down upon arrival - Sandra qualifies herself as a „clean-freak“ [her words] - she simply reported „a few bugs“ that she wanted housekeeping [!] to vacuum away. The condo had been vacuumed and wiped, the patio cleaned with the water hose on the morning of her arrival, the water, electricity and airco were turned on and a plate of fresh fruit - a little welcome gift which we present all our guests - placed in the fridge by our housekeeping.
Here comes a place in a dream location with all amenities you could wish and a host adressing Sandra's derogatory requests with courtesy and understanding and yet all this finds no truthful echo in Sandra's review at all.
After two days on-site with her kids, we heard back from Sandra suddenly claiming the condo to be „infested from within“. Being in a desert location, our condo has screen doors – suffice it to say that when they are not properly closed [as advised in our house rules], bugs or crickets may easily sneak in… By the end of her stay, she had inflated the situation to a sort of biblical plague... and despite that, she stayed to the very end, turning down a proposal of our housekeeping to check the situation. Did she or the kids really keep screen doors and front door closed as advised? Would a „clean freak“ confronted with a „nightmarish situation“ like she allegedly was really have stayed if the condo had been that bad?
Fact is that the condo is regularly checked both by housekeeping and maintenance and that in the past 20+ years, there has never been any kind of infestation at all.
After her departure, the condo has again been professionnally cleaned and thoroughly checked by housekeeping and maintenance [as they always do]. Both are clear and unambiguous in their statements, supported by documentary evidence: There's absolutely no sign of infestation, and certainly not from within the condo. Maintenance specifically knows where and how to look as they check condos & villas in the resort regularly for possible termite or other damage. Nonetheless bugs are an inevitable part of desert life and may eventually not be fully deterred by the regular use of professional chemical repellent products in- & outside the condo.
All our reviews evidence that the fact that we have always done our utmost to host our guests in a professional way in a marvellous place making their stay a real postitive experience. And we are committed to continue doing so in the future. Would we be an AIRBNB „Superhost“ otherwise?
Final remark: calling upon people to leave honest reviews as Sandra does implies that all of our guests who have been more than happy in our condo & who enthousiastically said so have been lying about their experience with us. This calls for no further comment.
