Janet's vintage apartment has a beautiful layout, and an abundance of decoration details add a whimsical touch. Also, Janet was so nice to let us store our bags in the apartment well before check-in time. But on a 92-degree weekend, other details count: like air conditioning (no), or ceiling fans that work (no), or screened windows that can be opened (no), or a tub that properly drains (no). The apartment was already surprisingly hot when we dropped our bags at 9:45 AM and 2 of the 3 bedroom ceiling fans didn’t work. We called Janet and she agreed to provide table fans - which we found on the stairs, when we returned at 10 PM, both small units still in their packaging, unassembled. We tried to create a draft, but the bedroom and kitchen windows were either stuck, painted shut, covered in ivy, or didn’t have screens. We left Sunday morning for an early morning photo shoot, exhausted after a mostly sleepless night

My friends and I had a nice stay at Janet's place. It's a cozy place with easy street parking and a quick uber from downtown. It does get pretty warm in the summer: there's no AC and some of the fans don't work well. Janet was great - check-in and everything was a breeze.

Janet obviously cares about her guests as there were snacks, robes and other amenities not usually seen at airbnb rentals.

I stayed at The Baroness while in town for a college friend's wedding. Two other college friends stayed with us too--and we had plenty of space. Never felt on top of each other. Wifi was very fast. There are fans in every room but no a/c, so it can get a little bit hot (we were there in the dog days of summer). Kitchen is nicely stocked and Janet and Lare went out of their way to make sure we didn't need anything and that we were comfortable. They were super helpful and communicative. The house is not far from a park that overlooks the whole city, and is less than two miles to the beach on Lake Michigan. It isn't a long walk to the main drag on Brady St but it can feel a little isolated at night since the blocks around the house are very residential. Would definitely rent there again if I was traveling with friends or a family--the house would be perfect for people with kids (there's even a game cupboard!).

Great location near downtown and an easy walk to great food and drink - we had a group of friends on a quick one night bike trip from Chicago and wish we'd had more than one night to explore! The place was as advertised, wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

The Baroness is a cozy spot in a great location, walking distance from several great bars and restaurants. Getting in was a breeze and the space was cute and clean. Janet left a box full of baked goods out for us, and the pantry was stocked with chips and ramen and other snacks. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was stocked with all the toiletries you could need. Janet was also very responsive when we had a slight issue getting the wifi to work. Would stay again!
