You won't need a car. Large, bright room with en suite bath. Main Street, Roundhouse and Mt. Beacon all within 10 minutes by foot. Quiet country scene in the heart of town. Two porches. Convenient stopover to points further north.

The space

Discover Beacon by staying right in town with a knowledgeable and community-engaged host.

Guest room is large, bright (3 windows) and quiet, with a ceiling fan and air-conditioner. The 1/2 bath is attached to the room and completely private.

Everything you need for a few nights is in the room, including clean towels, water, glasses, snacks and extra toiletries.

A full bathroom with a bathtub/shower down the hall and is shared.

*The house is 100 years old but the inside is renovated and new. Please pardon the appearance of the stairs and stairwell, which is not new and being refurbished (totally safe, just not pretty).*

Guest access

The master BR and en suite 1/2 bath is exclusive to guests. Share the full upstairs bathroom and the rest of the house. Two additional bedrooms are private.

Full use of the kitchen is available only to longer term guests. Short term guests may use the kettle and/or microwave and the refrigerator for storing drinks/groceries.

Interaction with guests

I live in the house per usual and keep to myself. I assume my guests have places to go, things to do, but I am always happy to answer questions and be helpful. If you need anything, just ask.

I am never home on weekdays and often not on weekends. If I know I won't be home for arriving guests, I have a lock box for which I will provide the code.

Other things to note

There may or may not be a dog on the premises - he's crate-trained. The cat is always around. They are both very friendly but you must like pets and their idiosyncrasies to fully enjoy your stay here.

Please read the house manual once you've booked your stay!

This is a quiet area. Respect the neighbors, especially after midnight.

Enter and exit through the front door and always lock it (inside and outside - the door will not stay closed unless you lock it). Keep the key with you during your stay.

Leave recyclables on the kitchen counter. Do not drink anything from the bar, unless it's yours.

Do not touch the thermostat. It is set at a reasonable temp November 1 through April 30. If you're still uncomfortable, ask.

Feel free to use the gas fireplace in the living room (the switch in on the wall to the right), and blankets are plentiful.

Please turn off the air-conditioner when not in use, or consider the ceiling fan instead. Please keep windows closed when the AC is in use.

Refer to the House Manual for further details on location of the room, keys, use of the kitchen, wifi, etc.

If your host is away, then you're lucky to have more space and privacy. That said, all house rules still apply.

Hi Sommer, thank you for your hospitality. We were in town for a wedding and stayed one night. The house was easy to find and everything was explained clearly beforehand regarding the key. Room was neat and tidy and had everything we needed for one night. Would definitely recommend this room for a short stay.

Nice, comfortable room and bed. Was great having a bathroom en suite. House was a 20 minute walk from trap station up the Main Street, great diner just five min away! Very easy experience.

Location was extremely convenient since it was about a 5 minute walk to Main Street. Temps outside were quite low when visiting but Sommer's place was very warm and comfortable. Would recommend highly for a short stay in the area!

Very warm and hospitable. Friendly cat and dog. Convenient location. We came for second Saturday in December and enjoyed the festivities on main st, restaurants, galleries, and dia beacon. We would recommend this room and host Sommer.

Sommer was a great host! She was very considerate and her dog is super friendly. Her house was clean, quiet, and really comfortable. With the half bath you pretty much have your own little suite. It's also a short walk to the east end of Main Street, which is nice if you don't have a car. I'd definitely stay again!

The proximity to Beacon's Main Street is phenomenal and yet the space is on a quiet side street with private parking. The house itself is nicely maintained and Sommer is a very thoughtful and organized host. We had all the comforts of home- a comfortable clean room with private half bath, easy access to full bath with shower down the hall, clean linens and towels and typical hotel amenities like free (strong) wifi, toiletries, brochures for the local area, and even fresh brewed coffee in the morning. Sommer was friendly and easy to interact with and we are grateful for her excellent hospitality.
