Enjoy a peaceful vacation at our Tree House in Highlands which is located on a plateau in the southern Appalachian Mountains, within the Nantahala National Forest. Our home has 3-4 bedrooms with 3 & 1/2 baths that is less than 0.3 mile from Main Street in Highlands. Walk to and fish at Harris Lake or simply relax and feed the ducks and geese. A stroll brings you to the downtown shops in minutes. Enjoy a glass of wine in front of a roaring fire during those cool Highlands evenings.
Have you ever spent a vacation in a Log Home? Now is your chance. Our three level log home has both an indoor wood fireplace in the living room as well as another fireplace on the balcony. There is a hot tub on another balcony to soak in after spending a day golfing, hiking, shopping or just relaxing in front of an open fire. We have a den upstairs that is perfect for curling up with a favorite book as well as one on the ground floor if you just want to be by yourself. We provide both a gas grill as well as a charcoal grill if you want to cook out. Want to make 'Smores? We provide metal marshmallow forks to roast them with. We try to have plenty of firewood but you will need to bring Duraflame logs, starters or kindling to help you start a fire.
Advice: There are bears in these mountains. These are not tame pets; they are wild animals. In most cases they are more afraid of you than you are of them. But if cornered or you get between a momma bear and her cubs they can be very dangerous. If you encounter an aggressive one, call the Highlands Police at 911.
• If you put garbage in the cans in the garage before taking the bags to the “Bear trash box” on the street, make sure you shut the garage door. Big furry animals might get into the cans at night if the garage door is left open.
Don’t build too large of a fire. Leaving a fire burning at bedtime or when you leave the house can be dangerous.
We really don’t advise allowing small children in the spa unless you use a much lower temp.
