Set in the pretty village of Ripe, with its local shop and cafe. Stunning views across farmland to the South Downs. Ideal for Glyndebourne and Charleston festivals.
A single storey, self contained, oak clad, tile roofed building near to the main house. It is accessible via an independent driveway with private parking. Fitted with contemporary and luxury fittings 4k TV with freesat including Netflix, wifi, USB charge points.

The space

We are situated near the South Downs which is accessible by bike or car, only a 3 mile drive/ride in country lanes. The opera house Glyndebourne is a short distance, as is Charleston farmhouse, the country home of the Bloomsbury set. We offer secure storage of bicycles.

Guest access

We have a private drive for you to park and separate access to the barn, to allow privacy. There is an area of garden and terrace available for you to enjoy the views. All the accommodation is on one level and assistance to terrace from the garden for wheelchairs will be made available if required.

Interaction with guests

We live in the house north of the barn and will be mostly available to help with local knowledge of trips, attractions and restaurant recommendations. Our local inn The Yew Tree is most welcoming and offers our local ale "Harveys" as well as many of the local artisan brews such as Longman.

Other things to note

The barn has extensive views, including the bedroom which has a wonderful view across the gardens. The barn adjoins a large green field which is grown for meadow hay. The sunsets behind the ancient saxon burial mound known as Mount Caburn. The burning sky sunsets are the best!

We had such a great stay in Avril's cosy barn. The location is very peaceful and barn has a stunning view of the surrounding countryside which was lovely to wake up to. The barn itself is fitted out to an amazing standard with top notch furniture and fittings (we loved the bathroom!) It was warm and cosy over a cold November weekend and we both agreed that it was the best Airbnb we have ever stayed in. We hope to be back soon!

Wonderfully tranquil hideaway with easy access to South Downs walking, the sea and Lewes. Came to enjoy the bonfire at East Hoathley but found a secluded bolt hole with charming hosts that we will certainly return to. The barn is laid back modern with everything you’d ever need for a stay and really thoughtful attention to detail. Really can’t recommend enough!

I absolutely love the South Downs and the small villages around and about. I prefer to explore the area on horseback! The locally produced food and wine make the best picnics and suppers. My guilty pleasure is going to Brighton to see the vibrant lifestyle, art and culture in …
