Leys, which has Visit Britain 5-star status, is close to Lyme Regis, sea, countryside, SW Coastal Path and many other footpaths. The views are spectacular, as is the location with lots of outdoor space, ambiance, and many activities, including table tennis, snooker, boules, badminton, short tennis, table football, swing ball. It is good for families (with/without children) and big groups (not hen and stag parties - sorry).
I am afraid we are unable to have short breaks in school holidays.

The space

A peaceful spot for relaxing and star gazing - no light pollution. A bridal path runs past the farmhouse, which joins a network of footpaths. 20-minute walk to Lyme Regis along River Lim recommended.

Guest access

There is a field for sports, boules piste, stables with indoor games. Car park behind the property. Lots of space for running around and letting off steam.

Interaction with guests

I am usually available in person, but always have mobile phone with me.

Other things to note

Proximity to coast and countryside. There is also a working pottery (The Pot Place) on the site. It is available for groups or individuals wishing to explore some basic hand-building modelling techniques and create a unique reminder of their holiday. There’s also a small selection of pieces that can be decorated. A portable pottery wheel is available to use on request and people are welcome to 'have a go'. The class is aimed at all levels and ages, but it would be helpful to know in advance what experience you have and what you hope to achieve from the session.
This class will hopefully fire your imagination and offer a lasting memory of a wonderful holiday experience.
£15 per 2-hour session (min. 2 person) or £15 per 1-hour 1-1 session (inc. basic material for making one small item. Extra charges for specialist material may be made as agreed)
Please contact Amanda Roberts on (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) or (EMAIL HIDDEN) to arrange a convenient time.
I provide some logs for your first fire in the woodburning stove. There are also large bags of logs in the back porch. These can be purchased for £5.
Well-behaved dogs are welcome (if booking before the end of May 2017*), but should not to be left unattended in the property or garden under any circumstances. We make a small charge of £5 per dog per day, or £25 per dog per week, to cover the cost of extra cleaning.
* Regretfully, because of several bad experiences, I have had to decide against hair-covered pets. I shall obviously honour existing bookings.

We stayed at Leys for my mother in laws 80th birthday. The property was beautiful, very clean throughout and perfect for our stay. There was everything we could think of in the kitchen including bits for our baby daughter. Would highly recommend this property to stay at for groups or just as a small family unit.

Thank you very much for such a kind and generous review. I am so pleased you all - especially the birthday person - had a good time. Also glad your daughter enjoyed the cows and the surrounds. In the overgrown far field, to the right of the 'secret garden', I am planning a little nature reserve/trail/maze for next year. 3 sheep have just arrived in it, so that is a start. They were bottle-fed and are very tame and friendly. I am going to cut some paths through the gorse, and there are masses of different wild flowers in the spring. If you ever come again, I shall welcome your daughter's opinion on it. Thank you again and all best wishes, Jill

Six of us had a lovely family long weekend at Leys Barn. Everything was perfect when we arrived and Jill was there to greet us. The space and facilities were 5 star hotel standard and we really enjoyed relaxing around the log burning stove, cooking in the lovely kitchen, walks to the coast and generally being in the beautiful barn in the middle of wonderful Devon/Dorset countryside. Much appreciated !1

We all had a fabulous time staying at Jill's place. Jill was attentive and the house had everything we needed from Yatzee to a lemon juicer! This is a great luxury family space. Thank you so much. We'd love to stay there again.

The barn is beautiful - the photos and description didn't do it justice. There is so much space and it was perfect for our group of 7. It's in a great location, quiet and secluded yet close to amenities and a pub if needed, although we barely left all weekend as it was so cosy! Jill was a great host - very responsive to any queries, and couldn't have done more to help. Everyone had a great time and we may just be back in future!

Beautiful location, Very bright , clean and spacious. Jill was a perfect host and she also providing us with some lovely freshly cropped potatoes to have with our dinner one eve. There was a great selection of maps, board games and outdoor games which we didn't get the time to make use of. It's a beautiful walk in to Lyme Regis direct from the house. Maybe a bus or taxi coming back if returning late. Walk can be a little challenging in the dark. We had a fab time and was perfect for our needs of a walking weekend.

This is a lovely place to stay for a group/family, everyone gets a great bedroom with an en suite. The kitchen is very well equipped and the living area is very comfortable.

Jill's house was easy to find from her detailed directions. It was a truly lovely place to stay. Scrupulously clean, everything necessary for cooking some nice meals, and luxurious bedding. Our family of 5 children and 2 adults had lots of fun with a badminton tournament, as well as visiting local tourist attractions. The snug has a fold-away bed (which we did not use), plenty of books, puzzles, and games. Be aware that the large and beautifully furnished upstairs bedroom 4/sitting room has no interior ceiling, so anyone sleeping there will be awakened by activity in the living areas of the house. As Jill says, there is no light pollution so the stars are exceptionally bright and plentiful--if you have a cloudless night, take advantage of it and enjoy! We appreciated Jill's landscape photographs, which decorate the house.
