In summer, you'll enjoy North America's finest fresh-water sailing and boating, spectacular beaches, exquisite golf courses and excellent fishing. Winter brings some of Ontario's best downhill and cross-country skiing, groomed snowmobile trails & ice fishing; all within minutes of work and home!
Educational options include both public and separate English and French schools, extended French programs and Ontario’s only Protestant separate school. Midland also hosts a campus of Georgian College and access to many of Canada’s finest universities are located within a 45-minute drive- Lakehead University in Orillia and the partnership programs at Georgian College in Barrie.
The area is proud of its past as evidenced in a walk through the streets of Midland or Penetanguishene, where community history unfolds in heritage homes, vibrant colours of historic murals (Midland is home to Ontario’s premier outdoor art gallery of murals) and galleries featuring local artists.
Local and provincial museums depict the rich and colourful history of the area reflecting the regions three founding cultures – Aboriginal, French and English. Historical attractions include a reconstructed 17th-century Jesuit mission where Ontario’s first hospital was located, a 19th-century British military base and Canada's first reconstructed pre-European contact aboriginal village.

FOR FUN
MIDLAND CULTURAL CENTRE
The new Midland Cultural Centre in the heart of Downtown Midland is the new $8-million home of the arts – visual and performing – on Georgian Bay. It is great for bands and theatre productions. http://www.midlandculturalcentre.com They also have an art gallery with Group of Seven inspired art as well as new and original styles. Right in front of the Midland Cultural Centre is my favourite shop, 'Simply Country' perfect for gifts, I love it....

SAINTE-MARIE AMONG THE HURONS.ON.CA
Ontario’s first European Community, Sainte-Marie among the Hurons was the headquarters for the French Jesuit Mission to the Huron Wendat people. In 1639, the Jesuits, along with French lay workers, began construction of a fenced community that included barracks, a church, workshops, residences, and a sheltered area for Native visitors.
By 1648, Sainte-Marie was a wilderness home to 66 French men, representing one-fifth of the entire population of New France. Sainte-Marie's brief history ended in 1649, when members of the mission community were forced to abandon and burn their home of nearly ten years.

Take a tour of the boat – it has been used in many TV productions including Murdoch Mysteries Season 7 Episode 1.

Hi I am KCee and welcome to Landis Adventures in the Land of the Hurons... I am a Production Designer in film and television, and I hope my property rentals in Port McNicoll, Canada and Playa Del Carmen, Mexico reflect my taste in Art Direction. The Good Witch and Murdoch Mysteries are two of the most recent shows I art directed. I designed my home in Playa Del Carmen in a funky Tarzan-style and I designed my Port McNicoll apartment building with a Murdoch Victorian-era style. My life mantra is "Strangers are friends you haven't met yet"....
