About this listing

Unwind in this beautifully renovated flat in the heart of Gardens, a hop and skip away from the Cape Town's famous Company Gardens that gives the neighbourhood its name. A quick amble (or $2 Uber ride) will bring you to some of the finest restaurants to be found in the country, while a hike to the top of Table Mountain can start on my doorstep. Welcome to Cape Town!

The space

This first-floor apartment is newly renovated with granite finishing, polished parquet floors and an enclosed balcony space. In the kitchen you will find a four-plate stove top and an oven, as well as a combined washing machine and tumble dryer unit.

The bathroom is beautifully renovated with a bath and shower both large enough for even my lanky six-footer frame, and in winter months a heated towel rail will help ease away those post-shower chills.

In the bedroom you'll find a comfortable queen-sized bed with luxurious hypo-allergenic bedding; there is ample wardrobe space for one to two people.

For the musically inclined an electronic piano awaits in the foyer.

Guest access

The guest bedroom is guests' private space. The open-plan lounge/kitchen area and the bathroom are shared spaces. Guests are not permitted access to the other room in the apartment.

Interaction with guests

I live on the premises, but on weekdays I spend most daylight hours at work, during which time you'll have the whole apartment to yourself. When I'm there, I'd be happy to help you with any queries you may have or difficulties you've encountered.

Other things to note

A large, unobstructed window opens one floor up over the complex gardens, and since there is a very real "falling out" hazard, the space is not suitable for children.

Check-in and check-out times are flexible, but please arrange this at least 24 hours in advance.

The neighborhood isn't scary, but it is *urban*. Keep your situational awareness.

I had a wonderful stay at Jay's flat. The shopping stores, and restaurants were practically walking distance from the flat. With his knowledge and expertise, he helped me experience all of Cape Town. He is a good host and a great friend and I had an unforgettable vacation while staying at his flat.

Jay is an amazing host that goes out of his way to make you feel welcome and understand better Cape Town and South Africa. He was kind and open to fun conversations, gave us really good tips on what was going on in CT. His apartment is really cute and neat, bed was REALLY confortable. By far this was my best experience on Airbnb and the only one that really synched with what Airbnb sells as it's core value: feel at home anywhere.

We had a fantastic weekend at Jay's place. The flat itself is modern and stylish, with a good use of space and lovely parquet flooring. It is very central and is within walking distance of Kloof Street, the Company's Gardens and, well, just about everything. Jay is a great guy and really easy to share a space with. His media set-up and board game collection meant that there's never a dull moment. The bedroom looks like a hotel room and the bed was extremely comfy. A great stay overall!

Jay's place was fantastic and Jay was a friendly, welcoming and very organized host. From the clear instructions on arrival, to the lovely and very charming apartment and bedroom, it was an overall delightful experience. The neighborhood was safe and very walkable. Kloof street just a couple blocks away has great restaurants and shops. It's a quick drive to all the sightseeing locations as well like Table Mountain, the waterfront, and Camp's Bay Beach.

Hello y'all!

Some of my favourite things include (but are not limited to) long-tailed comets, playing ultimate (frisbee), word plays, shooting stars, solving puzzles, slacklining, board games, starry night, hanging out with cats and meeting fellow quirky geeks.

I travel more than my fair share, and not nearly enough. I've lived abroad (sometimes even successfully) and would like to do so again. I love the word "vignette", I have a huge crush on the Alexander Upstairs Theatre in Cape Town and I liked that bit where Frank Moses steps out of the cop car.

LBGTX-friendly.
