Some info has been automatically translated.
Our Roundhouse is on a working farm with rare breed sheep, cattle and Cumbrian Heavy Horses (come & ride!) Set in a beautiful valley in south west Cumbria, amazing views, a stream running closeby, it's peaceful. Locally, a variety of good pub/restaurants (would recommend having a car though). You’ll love our roundhouse, it has good facilities, see pics, is unique, cosy, romantic, with a wood burning stove, has a stunning location, and is good for couples, friends, outdoor folk; we take dogs😁

The space
Our personally made unique and beautiful roundhouse is set in an idyllic location in the south west corner of the Lake District National Park on a working farm. The combination of soft wood and circular shape creates a very relaxing place - with the wood burning stove and dimmed lights it can be both practical (it has full electric and water) and very romantic! It has a lovely big bed for two, if more can sleep 4/5; the kitchen is fully appointed (induction hob, toaster, kettle microwave and fridge!) and sink with hot water. The showers and toilets are outside the Roundhouse only 20m away and immaculately clean. Enjoy!

Guest access
The Roundhouse is situated on our campsite on a raised terrace with easy access to toilets and showers as well as washing facilities with hot water in addition to that in The Roundhouse. It is on a working farm with cows sheep and horses so for health and safety reasons it's not possible to access other areas of the farm but there are some lovely walks directly from the site up onto Black and White Combe. The beach - glorious miles of largely unoccupied sand- is only 3 miles away, 5 minutes drive. The Roundhouse has its own parking follow the signs, and is at the top of our smallfamily campsite, it's secluded yet not... we also have a small shop/cafe onsite in summer.

Other things to note
Due to Coronavirus please bring a mask/face covering to enable use of our shared facilities at the toilet/shower block. We are doing all WE can to enable you to have a safe stay here but we need you to observe social distancing at all times. Let's use our common sense, and protect ourselves and other people, and have a fabulous holiday😁

Neighbourhood highlights

There are many local amazing things to both see and do. Right on site you have award winning Cumbrian Heavy Horses, where you can ride a magnificent heavy horse, Shires, Clydesdales, and four other pure bred heavy horse breeds. We also have the sheep but they are best as a spectator sport (watching us run around them is very entertaining !!) as well as a myriad of walks, up onto both Black and White Combe and a walk through to Swinside Stone Circle can both be accessed from base. For steam buffs we have the narrow guage line at Muncaster (Ravenglass) to Boot, the L'al Ratty, and the larger steam trains at Haverthwaite, which run between there and the Aquarium. The South Lakes Wildlife Park is 25 mins away and is amazing to see, and there are various museums, and in general, walks galore, with Grizebeck Forest for Mountain Biking, Lakes for kayaking and sailing, gondola steam boats on Lake Windermere, with easy access through to the Central Lakes. Just up the coast from us you have Muncaster Castle with it's Owls and Falconry demonstrations too. So much to do, or you can just chill out!

My work: Cumbrian HeavyHorses
I spend too much time: horses books work- I love my life here❤️
I run Baystone Bank Farm, a lovely Fell Farm in the Whicham Valley in the south west of the Lake District National Park. I am originally from Cambridge, horse mad - Cumbrian Heavy Horses is my business and passion - whilst farming is obviously also in my blood! I am lucky to be able to do something I love in such a stunning place. A close friend built the roundhouse, the team here manage the sheep and cattle.
