The space
Designed and built by MIT trained architect and builder Christopher Crawford 'Lago' features expansive Southern facing windows across Bulloughs Pond- the first man made water encampment in North America.

“This beautiful sheet of water, like a sapphire gem set round with emeralds…” Samuel Francis Smith, History of Newton, Massachusetts, 1880

Popular at the turn of the century onwards for ice skaters, Bullough's powered Newton's Grist mill from colonial times at the site of the dam and bridge adjacent to the property. The Pond also served as a commercial ice producer.

Bulloughs provides excellent bird watching.

Trolley car service at the turn of century brought hundreds of skaters to the pond, which features a hot house on its eastern shore for skating warm ups.

Some modest exterior work (garage doors). Will be ongoing during your stay.

Where you’ll be

Newton, Massachusetts, United States

Newton Massachusetts , originally 'Cambridge village' separated from Cambridge in 1688. Which is to say we are a horse and buggy ride to Harvard Square- likely a lot shorter than today's car jammed journey which on a good time is 10 minutes by auto mobile.
