Stay in a genuine monument in the very heart of historic Delft. Formerly used as a warehouse, it was converted into a residential loft with a large modern kitchen and spacious bathroom.
Located very centrally, everything is within walking distance.

The space

The place is a genuine monument in the heart of historic Delft. As a former storehouse converted into a residential loft, it has a unique layout, which makes it very suitable for 2 to 4 persons.
However, the same unique layout does provide moderate privacy, as it is a loft. There are no doors, except for the one to the bathroom and the entrances.

Guest access

The whole house, 3 floors with a unique layout, is available for the guests as follows :

Ground floor: Large modern kitchen (30 m2) with a beautifully tiled floor. The open kitchen has a dishwasher, fridge, separate freezer with 3 drawers, storage shelf, four-burner gas-stove, oven and sink . Additionally, endless closet space and all amenities for eating and cooking.
At the back is the bathroom, which is equipped with a large shower cubicle, toilet, sink with mirror, washing machine and central heating kettle .

First floor: Large open space to use as a workspace , bedroom or extension of the living area. The floor has a (sleep-) sofa , 2 armchairs, 40" LED TV, closet-space and a large desk.

From the floor you can access a small terrace on the roof of the bathroom; ideal for sitting outside, when the weather is nice.

Attic: The attic is accessible via a separate wooden staircase. This space is approximately 12m2 and is equipped with a double-bed and more closet space.

Interaction with guests

As I live abroad, the interaction with me will be primarily by email and telephone. In Delft however you will be interacting with Stella for everything you need (key, etc).

Communication was excellent and we were met and shown round. The accommodation was fine-two of us managed the ladder despite being in our 70;s and the closeness to the old town was great.

Gijs's house is wonderful: much larger than it looks in the photos, perfectly clean and very comfortable. The location couldn't be better: a tiny walk from Delft train station, and right in the centre of town. Unfortunately we never met Gijs in person, but his lovely friend Stella let us in, showed us around and made us feel comfortable.

Lovely place. A couple of minutes walk from the station, and a 20 min journey to Rotterdam or an hour to Amsterdam. Delft itself was very pretty. The apartment is as advertised, clean, well laid out and we were met by a very nice lady called Stella who settled us in. If you intend to lie-in late, you may want to consider ear-plugs as their is a church bell not to far away. Overall a great place and would definitely recommend!

We were met by a wonderful lady called Stella, who showed us around the apartment and made us feel very welcome. She also gave us a map of Delft where she had marked out the location of the apartment and she told us where to find a supermarket etc. The location of the apartment was ideal for us. It was 2 minutes walk to the church where our friends were getting married, but also only 5 minutes walk to the main square, restaurants and shopping street. It is about 5 minutes walk to Delft train station, and about 15 minutes drive to Rotterdam airport (€33). The apartment was big, clean and well equipped with everything we needed. The only downside was that there are no radiators or heaters on the ground floor (where the kitchen is located), so during the whole weekend the kitchen was too cold to spend any time in. We ended up having breakfast etc. on the first floor where we could use turn on the radiators and make it nice and warm. The apartment was only 13 degrees when we got there and it took a good 12 hours to get the first and second floor up to a comfortable 20 degrees. The ground floor stayed at 16-17 and we couldn't get it warmer. Apart from that, we really enjoyed our stay and would love to make another visit! Also - thank you Gijs for bar and restaurant recommendations!

Delft is a nice little town and Gijs' home is well located between the train station and the town center. Stella, the house keeper, is very nice and welcoming. Around the corner there is a supermarket for those who want to prepare their own meals.

The apartment was great for the four of us and even though the loft is open there's enough privacy. Gijs' place is very spacious, clean, well equipped and in a brilliant location. It wouldn't be suitable for young children or for anyone who's got mobility issues. But for everyone else it's just a gem! Walk out of the door and you are in beautiful Delft centre, surrounded by bars, restaurants, shops, street market, historical buildings, canals ... it's lovely.
