NUMBER 18 IS DEEP CLEANED, DISINFECTED AND SANITISED BETWEEN EACH GUEST. I OFFER SELF CHECK-IN AND SELF CHECK-OUT. A quaint and pretty cottage in a no-through lane, sleeping 4 + baby, in a village, ideally located to explore the local area and many interesting and historic places; close to Bath, Bradford on Avon and Longleat. Train stations close by for travel further afield. Well behaved dogs welcome. Gardens back and front. Parking. I offer a warm welcome to all guests.

The space
Number 18 Loves Lane, is a cosy little cottage, built in the 1800's of Bath stone, by the Love Family for the workers on their estate. It is at the end of a row of 5 cottages which are all different, giving the row a unique character which has led to them being considered worthy of a Grade 2 listing.

The cottage has been freshly decorated throughout for the 2021 season.

The accommodation comprises 2 double bedrooms (one with a double bed, the other with a king size bed that can convert into twin beds - (PLEASE NOTE THE CHOICE IS A KING SIZE BED OR 2 SINGLES - NOT BOTH), we can also provide a travel cot and high chair.

The lounge has a 3 seater sofa, a 2 seater sofa, a dining table and a log burner for cosy evenings in, with logs and kindling provided for your first fire. Further logs can be purchased at cost price from us. There is a Smart TV with dvd player.

There is a modern, well-equipped kitchen with a dishwasher, washing machine, fridge, microwave, oven with an induction hob as well as a Nespresso coffee machine and toaster.

The downstairs bathroom has a lovely shower and a small bath.

As is usual in a cottage of this age, the stairs are steep and there is one doorway that can catch out the unwary (and tall) as it is rather low.

Your comfort and enjoyment are really important to us and so Number 18 is furnished to the standard and style we would want when holidaying. It is a characterful, individual and eclectic space with many interesting touches, for instance curtains made of old French linen sheets with the initials of the couple who owned them embroidered on the fabric, and a lovely old artist's table as well as old, wooden floorboards throughout.

All linens and towels are provided. Further towels can be provided for those wanting a swim in the river, just a mile away.

Number 18 has been described by our guests as "quaint", "secluded", "romantic" and "an ideal location for quiet, cosy nights in."

The village of Wingfield has a popular pub, The Poplars, which is within walking distance, a school and a church; it is a quiet base from which to explore the beautiful local area.

There is a garden at the rear with dining table and chairs and a barbecue
The front garden has a 2 seater bench. Both are cottage gardens.

Where you’ll be

Wingfield, England, United Kingdom

Number 18 is situated in a small lane in the small village of Wingfield which is on the Somerset/Wiltshire border. Wingfield has a popular, dog-friendly pub within walking distance of the cottage, but no village shop. Bath is 20 minutes away by car or train. Bristol, Salisbury, Stonehenge, Cheddar Gorge and Frome are all easily accessible as are many local attractions such as Longleat, Iford Manor, Great Chalfield Manor and Garden, The Courts Garden, Farleigh Hungerford as well as splendid Stourhead and many other places of interest. The very popular Glass Hub which run glass courses is only 1 mile away. There are ample opportunities to use National Trust membership locally. There is wild swimming in the river at Farleigh Hungerford. The area is ideal for walkers, cyclists and dog owners. Bradford-on-Avon is very close and it has a supermarket and independent shops and a variety of good places to eat as well as lovely walks and bike rides along the canal (bikes can be hired). Nearby Trowbridge is the county town of Wiltshire. Frome is famous for its independent shops and its monthly independent market. We are close to the Bath and West Showground which holds various events through the year including Flea Markets (marvellous!) and the Agricultural Show. There is a fabulous Christmas market in Bath and at the end of the year Longleat puts on its Festival of Light and firework show. Wingfield is a great base to explore the area. Bath has a fabulous annual Christmas market with hundreds of great stalls.

Film and TV locations
There are also many film and tv locations close by. Some of the interior sequences in "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" and "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" were filmed at Lacock. The BBC's "Wolf Hall" and "Robin Hood of Sherwood" used the Tithe Barn and surrounding areas in Bradford On Avon as well as the film "Creation" and "The White Princess". Corsham doubled up for Truro in "Poldark" and Great Chalfield Manor was also used for "Poldark" and "Wolf Hall". The lake at Fonthill Bishop was used for river scenes in the film, "Chocolat" There are many other film and tv locations within easy reach of the cottage and there is information about this in the cottage.

Hello, having retired from my job in the charity sector I have been busy with my Airbnb cottage. I have enjoyed it so much that I am have decided to open another cottage for Airbnb guests, just 2 doors away from the first. I have had some great experiences at Airbnb properties and my aim is to give my guests the same wonderful times that I have had. I have also recently started a business hiring antique and vintage items for weddings, special occasions, film and stage and the furnishings and decor of Number 16 and 18 reflect this interest.
