About this listing

Large cottage on a quiet, clean lake. Great fishing, swimming, hiking, campfire and relax location. Enjoy the fresh air and view from the large deck before retiring to the screened in balcony in the evening. Please see reviews for more details.

The space

Located at the end of a winding dirt road, this cottage is the best of both worlds - peaceful nature with a complete house. Electricity & running water (showers!) means you'll never have to trek out at night in the dark to an outhouse.

The cottage comfortably sleeps five, six in a pinch. It includes access to three traditional bedrooms and one single bed on the porch. [Please identify how many guests in your booking. We will only provide clean linens/towels for as many guests as have been identified. ]

Other details:
- BBQ & fully equipped kitchen
- Running water (flush toilet, shower, hot water)
- Canoe, kayak available for use
- Great lake for swimming (chilly but very clean) & fishing (please ensure you have a valid license)
- Large screened-in porch
- Large deck with west-facing waterfront views
- Extremely secluded (neighbours not visible from property)
- Over 330' of private waterfront.
- 30 mins to grocery story & town for amenities (Barry's Bay)
- Dogs welcome (except on furniture)
- Kids welcome (but please supervise - it's not childproofed)
- Fully stocked with board games, puzzles & old magazines
- Fridge will contain basic condiments, cupboards have basic spices.

IMPORTANT: Please read the house rules prior to booking, as there are specific requirements due to the remote location of the cabin.

Guest access

Guests have access to whole building, canoes/kayaks, two firepits, and 330' of waterfront.

Interaction with guests

Due to the remote location, owner is often offsite for checkin/checkout. Host is always available to assist by phone / text should you have any questions during your stay.

Other things to note

The cottage is on lake water. It's very clean and fresh, but please bring bottled water if you're unsure about drinking from a lake. We hope to have a separate water system in 2017 and will update when advised.

**Max ONE vehicle on property.**

IMPORTANT: There is no garbage collection or recycling at this location - everything that is brought in *must* be removed (bottles, garbage, etc). Additional fees will be charged if anything is left onsite.

NOTE: The cottage is unheated. Room heaters are provided, but it is a large building and main spaces do not heat up quickly. Obviously not an issue is July / August!

Even better than we expected! While there isn't a sandy beach, we we're delighted to find a very large, shallow lake front. And the daily visits from the ducks were a hit with both our son and dog. Loved how close this was to Ottawa.

Lovely welcome package waiting when we arrived including a hand-written note by Elizabeth, a bottle of champagne, marshmallows, a jar of homemade jam and lovely smelling bug-repellent incense sticks. The weather was beautiful, the lake warm and clear. Loons sang to us each morning and evening. Good fishing--we caught lots of small mouth bass and even a few yellow perch! We had lots of fun canoeing and kayaking around the lake, swimming and just reading on the deck or in the screen porch.

This was an absolutely delightful cottage - we wanted a week of quiet relaxation, and were so pleased with the location, the amenities, and our interaction with Elizabeth! It was private, spotlessly clean, and stocked with the essentials. The screened-in porch meant we could enjoy the evening and night without fear of mosquito bites, and the screened-in gazebo down by the water was ideal for wine by the lake. I'm so so so pleased we chose to stay here - we will definitely return!

This cottage turned out to be exactly as advertised, perfect for a summer getaway by a lake. We were welcomed with a lovely note from Elizabeth and a few goodies for our stay. The night we were scheduled to get there, Elizabeth checked in to make sure all was well. We had a few questions which were promptly answered. We would certainly rent this spot again!

The cottage was just a described in the ad, except more beautiful in person. Elizabeth was a wonderful host! We were welcomed with a gift basket of marshmallows, sparkling wine and a nice hand written card with a map of the good fishing spots! The place was clean and well stocked with everything from spices, condiments, all the kitchen supplies you could need. There was fishing gear, canoes everything we could think of needing. Elizabeth was available and helpful with directions and any questions we had, it felt like we were part of the family!

Our stay at the cottage was fantastic. After our drive to the region, we were welcomed with a nice card and bottle of wine. As we hoped, it was a quiet and beautiful location with quick access to the lake to swim, paddle, and fish. All of us, from my 91 yr old father to my 16 yr old nephew loved our stay. We hope to come back soon.

I loved this cottage! It was everything I had hoped and more. The location was beautiful and the house was warm and welcome. As soon as we walked in we were greeted with a card, marsh mellows and wine in a basket. Elizabeth made us feel very welcomed. The water front was beautiful and I saw an eagles almost every day. I think if you're looking for a place to relax and get away this is definitely the place you are looking for. Overall I loved my experience here, I would definitely recommend this to others.

I'm a musician-turned-consultant that still loves getting a great deal on travel. I've been all over the world (Kenya, New Zealand, Scotland, Trinidad & Tobago, Western Europe) mostly on outdoor adventure style trips: climbing mountains, going on safari, scuba diving, saving baby sea turtles, whale watching, cycling, and more! While I travel for adventure, I view my home & cottage as a quiet sanctuary. You'll have everything you need to have a chill stay & leave feeling rested. Please let me know a bit about yourself when you book with me, so I can help you find local resources to enhance your stay!
