Bonnieux Cottage (pronounced “bon yur”) is an historic early Wairarapa cottage built in about 1878. It's five minutes walk from Martinborough's Square and opposite one of the village’s earliest wooden churches. Three minutes walk from the town swimming pool.
Fully self contained with three bedrooms and two bathrooms (one ensuite). Sleeps 5 in two queen bedrooms and a single bedroom. Wood panelled lounge and two attic rooms to explore and relax in.
The cottage contains many original features including old totara and matai floors, wood paneling in the lounge and hallway, exposed wooden feature walls in the front bedrooms and a narrow, hand carved totara staircase.
The kitchen includes microwave and a full range of crockery, cutlery, glassware, cookware, serving dishes and an espresso coffee machine. The dining table seats six.
The lounge, kitchen and the main bedroom have widescreen TVs with Freeview and Sky TV, including movies and sport. The lounge also has a blu-ray DVD and an inbuilt woodburner. A heat pump looks after the temperature in the open plan kitchen-dining room.
There's a CD player in the dining room and bedside radios in the two queen bedrooms.
The main bathroom has a clawfoot bath, toilet and separate shower. The ensuite bathroom has a shower and toilet.
Other facilities include a washing machine, ironing board and iron, and heaters in every room. All beds have electric blankets and Egyptian cotton sheets.
French doors from the dining room open onto a private sheltered deck with outside table, seating for six and a gas BBQ. This area is surrounded by jasmine and wisteria and is perfect for outdoor entertaining at most times of the year.
Further outdoor areas include seats on the front verandah and a seating area at the back of the house with table and chairs. The gardens at the front and the back of the house are full of flowers and climbing roses. There is also a petanque court and a set of boules.
Continental breakfast supplies are included.
Free Wi-FI is available throughout the cottage
The narrow, steep stairs to the attic and the historic nature of the cottage might mean it is unsuitable for small children.

Other things to note
The pricing shown is the first night price for one couple. We reduce the price for additional nights.
We're happy for people to host quiet parties and events. We own the neighbouring cottage (Lacoste Cottage) too so the two cottages together can sleep 10 people.
