Lovely cottage in the hills, perfect for spending some time away from the city life. Cosy and rustic with a beautiful view and lots of little spots to spend quiet moments inside and around the farm. The pool was a nice addition in summer as well. And Dulce and Rolando were very helpful in any questions we had with regards to travel out of Marco de Canaveses, and with picking and dropping us off at the train station. Even welcomed with a bit of Port and typical biscuits from the region. Definitely recommended!

first: this was the single most wonderful place we had ever stayed at. not kidding. we only stayed 3 nights, but with that amazing location, the welcoming hosts, the views over the valley, the lovely animals, the fruit trees, the pools, the hammocks, the music room....... we would very well stay there indefinitely. if you are looking for a secluded place to relax and forget all your worries, look no further. this place is it!

What an amazing place! The house itself is so interesting and very well appointed. Staying at the farm was great - we made friends with the lovely dogs, enjoyed walking around the grounds and cooling off in the pools. Cooking sardinhas on the grill and enjoying port wine by the fire pit at night were a couple of highlights. All this and the kindest and most generous hosts. Really hope to visit again.

A corner of paradise! Such a charming and relaxing place to unwind and explore the beautiful Douro Verde area. Dulce and Rolando have made wonders to create a sustainable and animal friendly environment, managing the land with love. We really enjoyed our stay, and wish we could stay longer! A refreshing swim with the sun setting after a day of exploration of the area was just what we needed. Would definitely come back and recommend anyone who loves nature to stay here. Obrigado!

For those from North America this is a real cottage experience. Dulce and Rolando are wonderful hosts and will make sure you feel at home. The building is rustic and very clean, with a cabin feel. The grounds are wonderful to explore. The kitchen is semi limited with no oven, however there is a microwave and hot plate. Free coffee and tea provided. This is a lovely place for a getaway.

Upon arrival Rolando picked my girlfriend and I up from the train station – we’d sleepily alighted the train at the wrong station yet he offset our guilt and stupidity with his kind and humoured reaction – and drove us the 7km (approx.) to the farm, via a supermarket in Marco-De-Canaveses, speaking fluently in English. Rolando’s warm character and openness shone through immediately. He introduced us to his wife and co-host Dulce. Her ever-smiling face, empathetic nature and curiosity made us feel immediately at home. She speaks fluent Portuguese and French, we don’t, yet we somehow understood each other very well. We were shown around the surprisingly huge ‘farm’-land, all of which we were free to roam, and were left to enjoy the evening with fruit, salad and port which they provided. We watched the sunset across the valley from the 450m height! The house we stayed in was great! An old barn (?) type building with a modern (both in temperature and ambiance) glass and concrete extension. The house is mostly surrounded by trees which merely emphasised the wilderness advancing from outside of the almost uninterrupted windows forming the structure. There were only two of us reveling here but this would be ideal for a family of 4 (or more) as well. Everything was tremendous – clean, full of character and functional. Outside was beautiful; grape-vine arches covered twisting walkways peppered with wild strawberries, oranges, lemons, rosemary and sage (amongst many other scents and tastes too numerous to mention) – all organically grown – leading to two swimming pools (outdoor and covered), an outdoor grill, horse paddocks, hammocks overlooking the valley through aromatic pine-trees. This place is oozing with romance and nature. The farm also encompasses Dulce and Rolando’s house and another two AirBnB properties but the respectful impression that Dulce and Rolando cultivate, as well as the layout of the land means that our space didn’t feel invaded. We were happy to share. Talking of nature, other than horses there are lots of cats – with hidden kittens, donkeys, a cow (which we, unfortunately, never saw) and the sweetest old dog (named ‘grandpa snow’ [translated] with a charm that could make the coldest of hearts melt) as well as a puppy… a puppy named ‘Simon’ ;) . We love animals very much and each and every one here has a life so vibrant – thanks t(URL HIDDEN)that they are without exception friendly; following us around wherever we went and sharing time with us. It truly felt like therapy. All of this was tied together by the character of the hosts. Dulce and Rolando are the warmest, most sincere and helpful people we could have wished for; always there to help; genuinely-generous; never encroaching on the sense of exquisite isolation that we craved; genuinely sharing their home with us. We cannot thank them enough and would love to stay again. We wish them all the best and send our love.

We live in Quinta do Crasto since 1990. We bought this ancient farm with about 7 hectares and we have been working hard rebuilding it. All the free time I get from my teaching job is spent on the farm due to my love of nature.
If you like nature and rural life you will certainly like it here.
