Located in beautiful downtown Palmer, this original colony building, built in the 1930s as the chicken hatchery, is a minute's walk away from quaint restaurants and small town shopping. It's about a 50 minute drive from Anchorage, and a great home base.
This is a basement apartment, but you won't mind. With plenty of natural light and modern design, this is not your typical Alaska lodging. I'm perfectly happy for you to use the kitchen and living space. Read the reviews about the shower!
In Alaska your typical experience will be cabins, high priced hotels and motels. My place is clean, Scandinavian inspired and modern. I designed the apartment from drawings up—being a designer, my tastes are a little different to the standard up here.
NOTE: The private room accommodates two people. The other bed is in an alcove off of the living room and can sleep another two. If you have more than two people in your party, please make sure you indicate that so I can have that bed made also.
When you get here, you will see a building that looks commercial, the Fox Den. Drive around the back and park in front of the fence. Come in the backdoor and down the stairs. Please let me know when you will be arriving so I can check you in.
Feel free to use any of the space. There is a kitchen, if you use it please just make sure you return it to previous condition. I have a couple of couches, so feel free to lounge around.
Our internet is super fast, so use it liberally! I also have a projector connected to an XBOX One and Apple TV. You are welcome to chill out and watch a movie or TV shows or even game. I have a cheat sheet waiting for you showing you how to operate it all. There is also a smart TV in the guest room with access to Netflix, Hulu and HBO.
I also just recently purchased two bikes! You can use them if you like, at your own risk!
Interaction with guests
As often or as little as you like!
Other things to note
The apartment is part of a split purpose building, so the top two floors are offices. Both are extremely quiet (one of them is mine) but you might hear a chair roll across the floor above now and then or quiet music. The space has been heavily sound dampened.
I also have noticed that I will get an occasional less-than 5 star rating on location. Alaska is really big, and while my place is really centrally located for Palmer, *nothing* in Alaska is close to each other.
I don't drink or smoke and I prefer it doesn't happen in excess around my home. My place is not pet friendly (even though I love animals). I like adventure and having fun, but please just keep activities and noise to a respectable level.
