We're a 30 minute drive to Charlottesville/UVa, featuring sporting events, art, and culture. Our area is full of history, family-friendly activities, wineries, great views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, and opportunities for hiking and kayaking. We have horses, chickens, and dogs if you're an animal lover, as well as plenty of rustic charm. We provide coffee, tea, bottled water, and snacks 24/7, and breakfast treats in the morning.
Your room is large and includes a double bed with a feather bed topper. There is a love seat that pulls out to provide an extra bed, stocked bookshelves, a work table, and even a woodstove in case you'd like a cozy fire.
Your bathroom and shower are private. The shower is in a separate room from the toilet and sink; this provides plenty of maneuverability for our guests who require accessibility and also allows two guests to get ready at the same time. The shower room also includes a washer and dryer which you are welcome to use. (Please note that we may need to come into your space to use the washer and dryer ourselves during your visit.)
Our home is wheelchair accessible and we have grab bars adjacent to toilet and accessible shower. We have a shower seat to use as needed.
You're welcome to use the kitchen, living room, the fire pit and pergola area in the front yard, the pool (Memorial Day to Labor Day), and the hot tub. Also, in summertime you're welcome to borrow our two guest kayaks to paddle the Rivanna or the James, and we will arrange drop off and pick up for you if at all possible.
***NEW***!! We have just added a gas fire pit next to the hot tub to make the winter nights cozier! Be sure to bring your swim suit!
Interaction with guests
I will be more than happy to help you learn about the area amenities! We have several brochures for local eateries and attractions stored in the guest book.
Other things to note
I have dogs who live outside and one who spends the evening sleeping in the living room. Feel free to pet the horses or offer them a treat.
Please understand that this is a working farm and while we strive to keep the inside of the house clean, the backyard area is going to be muddy, dusty, etc and there are animals out there--we think that's part of the charm!
