Located right on Main St. Montgomery, you’ll love our place because of its quaint Vermont country atmosphere.

The Barn has been lovingly renovated and updated while preserving and emphasizing its old farm charm.

The property has plenty of space and is good for families (with kids) and big groups.

The space

Come experience a charming and relaxing home with a distinct Vermont flavor.

Just minutes away from Jay Peak and right on Main Street in Montgomery Center, this home is a short walking distance from a supermarket, restaurants, Trout River, and local bars to help you relax after enjoying your favorite Vermont outdoor activities--such as hitting the slopes, hiking, fishing, etc.

The home has been lovingly renovated and updated while preserving and emphasizing its old farm charm. Come and relax while you admire the work of a master carpenter throughout the whole house, from its hand made winding staircase to the wooden home made cover plates.

The kitchen is fully stocked with nice assortment of pots and pans as well as plates, glasses, and silverware. There is also plenty of counter space if you feel like cooking. If you are not serious about cooking a meal, there are a number of options just a few steps away at The Inn (right across the street) or at Bernie's just down the street. You may, if you prefer, drive to The Belfry just up the mountain. Either way, we will leave some bottled water and other goodies to help you get settled. We may at times leave some fresh eggs from our free range chickens but this depends on the girls doing their work at home. For your convenience, the kitchen is equipped with a DW, LP oven, electric cook top, and a microwave. There is a spice rack, a professional coffee grinder if you prefer to bring your favorite flavor of coffee beans, and a coffee maker.

The home has 3 bedrooms and two full bathrooms. The Master has a queen size bed and a twin on full bunk bed. The room is separated from the other bedrooms for some privacy. The next bedroom has a queen and a twin. The third bedroom has a queen bed and a day bed. There are two futons and a sofa bed for additional guests. All bedrooms have closets.

There is plenty of heat during the cold months. The Barn has a Rinnai heater and three additional propane fireplaces--two of them being Vermont Hearthstone Gas fireplaces. These last two are hand made right here in Vermont and are beautifully crafted with a marble surrounding.

The larger living area upstairs includes a Smart TV, cable/wifi, and a XBox One game system. There is also exercise machine available for your use.

There is a dining room and also a formal dining room for your convenience and comfort. The formal dining room boasts a 12 foot high stained glass window sure to impress your guests.

We welcome small to medium size dogs. We prefer the hypo-allergenic dog breeds. Please be advised that there is a $100 pet fee payable upon arrival.

The full bathrooms are located one on each floor. There is a laundry room on the main floor as well.

We know you are coming to enjoy the town, but we also know you come to enjoy the outdoors year round. For that purpose we provide you with a large mud room for all your gear with plenty of space to secure your equipment away from the street.

While we continue to improve the house, we feel that the home will fulfill all of your needs but we welcome all suggestions to make your stay more pleasant. There is a binder in the kitchen area with local information for your convenience as well as general house information and rules. We encourage you to please help us maintain the place well kept for the comfort and convenience of all guests.

Please keep us posted on any special events.

Guest access

You may access all parts of the home with the exception of the old barn portion. The unfinished section leading to the deck out back is allowed access only in the case of an emergency. Please be careful not to allow small children into that section as it is being worked on to add extra space to the Barn.

Interaction with guests

We are local and will be happy to assist you with any concerns or questions. We will leave a binder with all the pertinent information.

Other things to note

Just a reminder that there is a pet fee if you decide to bring the other members of the family.

We stayed at the barn for a wedding with 5 of our friends. The location was great! The grocery store and restaurants were walking distance. We also walked to a swimming hole two times. It was the perfect size for 7 people. The wedding was at Jay Peak resort and the drive was only 15-20 minutes. All around great trip and wonderful spot to stay!

Jill and Rafa are amazing hosts! They are always making sure you are enjoying your stay and providing help with any questions you have and give information about everything in town! The barn is cozy, quirky and adorable, fitting everyone in our group without a problem. The house is stocked with anything basic you might need making it all the more comfortable. The close proximity to Jay Peak is just the cherry on top.

Thank you so much for your feedback! We were so glad to know you enjoyed our Barn. When we booked you for your "Spring" break, we never imagined you would bring five feet of powder with you. So...please come back again next year...and bring more snow with you...You are welcome back any time!! P.S. Thank you for taking such good care of the Barn

Jill and Rafa were fantastic hosts! They met us at the Barn upon our arrival and gave us the Grand Tour of the space making sure we had everything we needed for the best experience possible. They were active communicators and extremely knowledgeable about the surrounding area. They went above and beyond with our accommodations, giving us ample time when we needed it checking out on our final morning. The Barn itself was a truly unique space! The renovations are amazing with rich wood tones and fireplaces abound, giving the space a cozy, comfortable feel. The space was clean and for the most part up to date, including multiple TV’s and Wi-Fi. Some of the kitchen appliances are out of date, but they still work well. All in all, Jill and Rafa’s Barn, is a great affordable Ski House only ten minutes from Jay Peak where I’m convinced, it never stops snowing…what else could you ask for!?

It was a funky space and a short walk to any of the few restaurants in Montgomery. 10 min to the mountain. Altogether a wonderful experience.

Jill and her husband were wonderful! The house is beautiful and has a lot of charm, we loved all the space and had lots of room with three families staying together. Jill met us on check in and even made the kids brownies and left cocoa and lots of stuff, we met Raphael the next day when he brought us a big pot to make soup and sleds for the kids, the kids had a great time playing outside in the snow between games! Everything was great, we cooked all of our meals and could even walk to the grocery if needed. Thanks for making our tournament weekend better !

Jill and Rafa were amazing. They gave us tons of useful and helpful information prior to our visit, and were there to meet us and walk through the house when we got there. They were so accommodating, and were eager to help us with anything we needed. My husband randomly mentioned it would be cool to have a sled, and they brought one over the next morning. The barn was great and the town of Montgomery is so quaint. A really easy drive to Jay. Highly recommend!

We are are not your typical VT couple.
Jill grew up right here in Montgomery and Rafa in El Salvador.
We met at BYU and after graduating, we have lived in many places from California to Puerto Rico but we have now settled down and will stay in our beautiful VT. We are both very active with coaching sports, school, and the community--mainly Scouting. We both love and cherish our elderly parents and are very involved in our kids upbringing.
