Our farm is close to Great Ocean Road Beaches, National Parks and Coastal towns such as Torquay, Anglesea and Barwon Heads. The tiny house created on the truck is an architectual delight. It is quite unique. Blue truck is situated on our beautiful biodynamic working farm with views of the green hills, creek and wetland. Horses, cows, ducks and chooks roam around and you are nestled in a peaceful tranquil wonderland of nature at it's best. My place is perfect for couples and families (with kids).

The space

Beautifully designed using a combination of recycled timber, windows, doors, some stain glass and pine. The studio truck has 2 lofts, one with queen size bed and one loft has a single mattress. There is also room in living area for another mattress. Complete with kitchen, stove, fridge and sink and cosy living area which looks out towards the wetland and creek. All utensils and linen are supplied. Hidden on the verandah is a compost toilet. There is also an outside toilet 50mts away and bathroom in my house for a shower. Hot water also on tap in the studio truck. A bbq is available for outside cooking. The truck is powered by solar panels.

Guest access

The studio truck is private and the whole space is for you. It has a compost toilet. There is an outside conventional toilet 50mts from truck and a shared bathroom in my house for a shower. You do not have access to the main house except to the bathroom, or if it is very hot you are welcome to stay cool with me in the house. Easy parking at truck. We have good access to highway but we are hidden away from the hustle and bustle of traffic and the modern hectic world.

Interaction with guests

We always take our guests for a tour of amenities and farm animals if you wish. I am nearly always here to assist my guests with anything you may need, or something you may have forgotten. If i am not home i am available by telephone.

Other things to note

The studio truck is insulated and faces south. We usually get coastal sea breezes at night time. There is a fan but no airconditioning. The truck runs on solar panels and excess power is used with airconditioning. My house is limestone and cool when i close it up on a hot day. I invite my guests into my house on a very hot day as it would be too hot in the truck. Many guests will go to the beach in hot weather, particuarly into the otway national park where it is lovely and cool. You are also very welcome to come inside with me!

Our family of four really enjoyed staying on Mary Rose's farm in the little blue truck house. It was such a great base for exploring the surf coast and was an easy drive into Torquay and Bells Beach. The "tiny house" is really well designed and equipped with a great little kitchen. The little pot belly stove kept us nice and warm. Mary Rose was lovely and communication was excellent. We'd love to come back again!

MaryRose was a hospitable and lovely host who was happy to offer advice about great restaurants and local scenic spots. The freshly picked, organic apricots and local honey were both delicious and a thoughtful welcome gift. We loved the ethical and sustainable aspects of the accomodaion and surrounding farm and enjoyed walking around the property meeting the horses, ducks and cows. The 'truck house' was quaint and very comfortable for the two of us, though I was more comfortable sleeping on a mattress on the floor than in the single bunk above the doorway - kids would love it though! There was plenty of organic tea options provided, crockery, cutlery and a secluded BBQ spot overlooking the farm. MaryRose was very welcoming and helpful. The solar powered electricity cut out a couple of times but MaryRose was quick to assist in fixing it for us. All in all, a really beautiful spot and quiet, country escape.

My cousin and I and two girlfriends, all in our early twenties stayed with MaryRose in the Blue Truck for a weekend away. It was absolutely perfect and such great fun! The truck was kitted out with everything you could possibly need and included a brand new outdoor bbq which was perfect in the evenings, looking out onto a view to die for! Not only were the views amazing but MaryRose was a great host...making sure we had everything we needed, including giving us salad leaves she had grown in her garden and allowing us to use her shower in the house. We had a car and were able to drive to Torquay and the beach in about 20 minutes. 10/10 all round! Thoroughly recommend.

Response from MaryRose:
All the windows have flywire on them. Wildlife on healthy farms includes insects. By keeping the door closed and opening windows with flywire on them then the insects are kept outside.

Really enjoyed our stay. Mary Rose was very welcoming and friendly, knowledgeable about the area, and eager to share great tips. The tiny houses are really well thought-out and designed. The farm is secluded but really well located. Everything you need.

I'm a mother of 2 grown up girls who enjoys retired life on my biodynamic farm. I'm an environmentalist, and a member of local Landcare, land for wildlife, the biodynamic gardener's association, and society for rare domestic breeds. I also support the neighbouring Freshwater Creek Steiner School. Animals on my farm include horses, cows, ducks, chooks and dogs. We grow a lot of our own food, vegetables, fruit, eggs and meat. I love country life and love to share this peaceful environment with my guests.
