Modern Loft apartment in the heart of Amsterdam. Enjoy the vibrant city center from your cozy and intimate castle in the sky! Fresh design interior in a historic and typical Amsterdam canal house. This monumental home is located in the heart of the city, close to Amsterdam's cultural and entertainment centers. Excellent public transportation facilities (trams, bus and metro) are within easy walking distance. Perfect for shortstay business people, romantic couples and small families. Extra features include a beautiful fireplace and a spectacular view over the city's picturesque skyline.

The space

On the top floor of an historic canal house, this truly is a charming "castle in the sky". Wonderful contrast between newly renovated freshness and old-fashioned Dutch architecture.
The house basically has 3 parts to it, the master bedroom with slanted ceilings is an intimate annd cozy space. The living room has a spectacular view over the Amstel river and the old city center. One of the most striking features is the designer fire-place which is supspended from the ceiling. In the corner, via a small staircase, there is the 2nd (queen size) bed, tucked in a supercute little niche. Super romantic!
Between the master bedroom and the living room there is a kitchenette and a bathroom/shower area, all modern facilities and newly installed.
A perfect mix between historical grandeur and the comfort and finishing of a modern apartment.

Guest access

The entire apartment is at the disposal of guests.
The entrance can be found on the ground floor, on the famous Amstel (yes, the beer is named after it) river.
Please note : This is a 300-year old Amsterdam monument, the apartment can only be reached by staircase, it is 4 floors up. Probably not suitable for people with physical disabilities, couples with small children and elderly people. It is quite a climb!

Interaction with guests

Guests can count on me or my co-host to be available by telephone or email if they have any questions concerning their stay in Amsterdam.

Other things to note

The apartment is really in the heart of the city, close to Rembrandtplein, a square where there are many bars and clubs.
People that are used to sleeping in a city will in all likelihood find the apartment quiet and peaceful, those that are used to sleeping in more rural areas might not be used to city sounds and might be disturbed by sound of traffic and nightlife public. This is very subjective, however!
Most people will not be bothered by this, yet it is important to mention, as light sleepers might be affected.

Great location and a beautiful appartment with lots of character. The fire is a real feature and great for relaxing around at the end of the day.

Perfect apartment in the perfect location, it had everything we needed for our stay and more. The views are great and the suspended fireplace is better. We went as a couple but I think its perfect for 2 couples or parents with children. Its in a brilliant location just a short walk from everything that you could ask for from Amsterdam. He was a great host helping us find places to visit which may not be in a guide book and helped us with every question we had. Thanks Quinten!

Lovely loft apartment with great views of the city and the river. Central and walkable to everywhere and close to the metro. Some nice restaurants and shops/ cafes nearby too. Loft was very clean and comfortable and quiet at night. You have to climb a lot of stairs to get to the apartment so make sure you can climb steps!

Very stylish apartment in the centre of the city. Good for healthy , young people without any luggage. For us real surprise were the stairs - the angle close to 90 degrees - more for alpinists that for the normal people. The light automatically disappeared after few moments , but you will have a little flash light together with the key. Another thing that everybody need to check attentively - only 3 hours that somebody can assist you to come to the apartment (from 12 to 15 pm) . Owner leave for us keys in the garage and it was not difficult to find them, but we are prefer that somebody help us with our bags. Beds comfortable, apartment fully equipped, good view from the windows , a lot of bars and restaurants near.

Stunning apartment. Great for friends as the little living room loft bed gives is like a second bedroom in the living room as it's a private space separated by the kitchen / entry/ bath hall before leading to large bedroom. Views are breathtaking . We sat in the window seat watching the view on the Amstel river for hours. Bed comfortable , always hot water. Kitchen needs more to be able to really cook. Quinten was an amazing host . I had been in Holland a month for work and had several bags. He helped me and my husband climb the very steep tiny narrow spiraling stairs with all our bags ! We would absolutely stay here again, if we only had like a tiny wknd bag, as the stairs were a major challenge, even without bags. I only put my heels when at the bottom of the stairs when going out!

We had a superb stay with our son, exploring the city was very convenient. Quinten's top floor apartment offers a delightful view and experience-launch pad for the local area. Many nights with the upper floor location we were removed enough from the business of city life below to enjoy quaint and quiet time overlooking the city with a wonderful sunset; other prime weekend nights we enjoyed the vibrations of the lively side of the city. With the windows open, the breeze carried whichever of the various street musicians performing nearby outside the National Opera, and set the stage to unwind from our day. Communication and service from Quinten was excellent, as was the key location for us to scoot around this very walkable city. Our 3 top picks for food nearby: Excellent Thai food at Krua Thai Restaurant just around the corner from the Nat. Opera/Ballet, a superb breakfast/brunch served at Dignata (also a short stroll away nestled into a park setting)...they have 2 locations, and Juice to Boost for those looking to keep pace with their foodie indulgences during their stay with wholefood smoothies and cleansing juices. I look forward to a return trip!
