Enjoy the ever-changing garden, Go for a peaceful walk by the Tamar, unwind and relax to the max, or enjoy all the region offers, including wineries, the Tamar Wetlands, Tasmania Zoo, the Beaconsfield Gold Mine, the Platypus house, Seahorse place at Beauty Point........., the choice is yours.

The subdivision is zoned low density residential, hence there is no block smaller than 4000sq.m. It seams as if you were right out in the country, yet all facilities are so close.
It is quite and at the same time is peaceful, yet has most facilities that a city offers.
Do not be surprised if a stranger chats you up while walking- jogging along the 3kms of Nobelius Drive. Tasmanians are very friendly and you may be captivated by the laid back lifestyle and the myriad of things this Island offers for the interested tourist- resident to see. It can be a catching "disease".
We caught the incurable bug 9 years ago, left the hustle and bustle of Sydney behind and are enjoying all that nature offers in the North of Tas. Legana is near enough to the CBD yet far enough to completely unwind.
Please come and experience this beautiful part of God's creation, called Tasmania.

There are buses stopping 20 meters away from our gate. The service connects Beaconsfield and Launceston.
Possibly 6-10 services a day.

The gardens are pretty all year round. Summer is dryer than elsewhere in Australia, so the contrast isn't as nice as through other seasons, but all the delicious fruits are ripening and Tasmanian cherries are the most scrumptious in all of Australia. Locally grown apricots and peaches are out of this world, while all other Island-grown fruits and vegetables are just as delicious. Spring,Autumn and Winter- Tasmania has it all. Beef, lamb, milk products , cheeses, seafood........oh, don't they taste good. I believe that Australia has some fantastic sites, but Tasmania, being a small island beats them all. You can't blink, without missing a sight. Our region - the Tamar Valley offers so much for the astute traveller. Launceston being the third oldest city in Australia is loaded with beautiful heritage buildings. It is in a lovely location, and who can go past this city without viewing it's "Cataract George" . It is magnificent, breathtaking, a sight not to be missed. If you are adventurous you may even wish to walk along the gorge all the way to the power station- a good 2 hour return trip for the not so faint heart-ed. And what a sight it is after lots of heavy rain when the weir is opened- it can be likened to the roar of a tsunami. Of course the Tamar Wine Region is nothing to sneeze at. The most delicious wines coupled with excellent cheese platters and the most appetizing dishes served at many wineries.
Why would you not come to a place like this? A place that draws the adventure seeker and anyone who's palate is extraordinary.
You can see, feel, taste; in a way experience all that God has created for his glory. Than come home to Wisteria Lodge and spoil yourself to the max, soaking your pleasantly-tired body in the spa-bath. All this is possible, at a very reasonable price, so come and see!

Remember, our primary objective is to make your stay super pleasant, so you are invited to our quarters for a cuppa any time we are home.

Interaction with guests

We are very friendly, but at the same time respect the privacy of our guests.
The greatest asset this world possesses is people. We are all here for a short period of time and within that short period relationships matter so much. Our posterity will have nothing to do with our present possessions, people will remember us only for the positive influence we were in their lives. I hope and pray, that this will remain a reminder all my life.

We stayed for 2 nights as a family. Wisteria lodge way exceeded our expectations, immaculately clean, well stocked for basics, lovely gardens. We would highly recommend this as a place to stay, the photos do not do it justice and Launceston and its surroundings are a great place to explore.

Wow, what a great unit!! Love it love it! It is so comfortable! Paid a bit more and never expect to get so much!!! This is the cleanest property I hv stayed so far! Spotless! And all amenities available. I think Alex must reemphasised that this is a B&B so that others know why they are paying slightly more! The champagne for us to celebrate our 26th wedding anniversary was so sweet!!! Will recommend this unit to anyone and everyone. Only 1 small complaint but not the hosts fault! There is no service at all for Optus in the unit!!! The unit is really top class, suitable for 4-6 pax easily but stely can accommodate more if sleeping on mattresses!

Alex was the perfect host. Perfect place which was very comfortable, spacious, relaxing and homely. The whole place was so clean and had everything we needed from full kitchen, spa bath, heating, car parking. Alex was very accommodating and friendly. I highly recommend this place to anyone. If I ever come back to Launceston I wouldn't hesitate to stay at Alex's again.

Wisteria Lodge is a quiet, spacious and extremely comfortable residence with all the comforts of home. It is perfectly located for sightseeing in the Launceston area. Of more importance however are the wonderful hosts, Alex and Marta who went out of their way to make us happy. This included supplies of bread and milk throughout our stay, fresh eggs from the chooks out back, in-season fruit and vegetables from the garden plus numerous little touches which made our stay a wonderful experience.

Response from Alex:
Like I said before: It was an absolute pleasure making the acquaintance and hosting you. I hope that this may have been the beginning of a more lasting relationship. We wanted to have so much time for you, though it ended up not being so. Perhaps we may see you other times, here in Legana or Queensland. I meant to take a photo of you, so as to put in with your file. That hasn't happened either. Would you be kind enough emailing one to us. Enjoy the rest of your retirement!!!!!

Response from Alex:
The duration of your stay was very short, but we enjoyed every minute spent together. There was quite a lot to talk about, so many things in common. It is because of people like you, that hosting visitors is such a pleasure. Tasmania has so much to offer, so we hope to see you again. Thank you again for leaving the place so spotlessly clean, hardly any work to be done, to prepare Wisteria Lodge for the next visitor. You are welcome guests in our place any time.
