This home was beautiful! It was a piece of history being built so long ago and added to the trip. There were 8 of us and we were very comfortable in this home. Plenty of room for all of us. We had a 5 day stay in DC and were on a mission to see everything we could in that amount of time. The host Laurel was very helpful on the phone prior to the trip. She gave me ideas about how to get around the city with 8 people. We ended up using taxi services a lot. They were everywhere and convenient. Cindy met us at the home upon arrival and was charming and welcoming. She answered all our questions and did a great job showing us the home and made us feel welcome. The area was close and convenient to everything and we felt very safe. We met the neighbors and they were all welcoming and friendly. The stay couldn't have been any better. Actually the only thing that would have made the stay better would have been an extra three days but we did see the Supreme Court building, Library of Congress, lunched at the Pavilion Cafe, the National Archives, had a private tour of the Capital, saw the Monuments by Moonlight tour, walked around the White House and had a good long chat with a secret service officer that was very friendly and answered as best he could every question that the grandkids asked. We went to the Museums ( Air and Space, American History, Holocaust and Natural History). Saw the Arlington Cemetery (changing of the guard and had photos and friendly visits with a group of about 30 senior veterans. Went to Mount Vernon, (go to the restaurant and have the fried chicken and waffles!) and from there we went to the Spy Museum. Everything was perfect! Thank You Laurel and Cindy :)

My husband and I brought our three kids and stayed for five nights. It was an impromptu vacation for us: we live in Florida and were fleeing Hurricane Irma. The pictures don't quite do the place justice. It is a lovely home. The kitchen is well-stocked for cooking for the whole family. The bathrooms are nice. The master bath has a rain shower head and seamless glass and what we deemed "the kids' bath" has a claw foot tub with a spray nozzle. Nice! There are fireplaces in the home which must be so wonderful in the winter. We enjoyed the short walk to the metro and bonus: there is a Starbucks right next to it. We grabbed our morning coffee then caught the metro for sight seeing and our tourist agenda. The hosts are helpful and gracious. We highly recommend and will stay again.

This place is amazing. The location couldn't be better. So close to everything, parking available (with permits) in the neighborhood, close to a grocery, Eastern Market, all of the downtown monuments, etc. Quick Uber ride to anything you don't want to walk to. Beds are super-comfy and everything is very clean. Lovely kitchen, fully stocked with everything you need to cook. And most of all, a super-responsive, kind host. I can't say enough about how wonderful Laurel is--and I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

This beautiful Victorian house was surrounded by leafy trees and beautiful landscaped front gardens. Access into the house was a breeze. It's warm interior with bits of old and new were very welcoming. All beds were super cozy and comfortable. The kitchen was a dream to cook in and and the back porch right there for outside meals and hanging out under the big trees in the back garden. Would recommend this place to anyone!

The house is steps away from my favorite park in DC (Lincoln Park) and a 12-min walk to the Eastern Market Metro and shopping area. You won't realize you are so close to the U.S. Capitol or so many great sites in DC when staying on this beautiful street and charming home. My family and I loved staying at Laurel's house. I appreciated the pack-n-play for my baby and the kids books and my four-year old. The home is large and comfortable (not super modern, but very nice). It was a great place to stay. We had a little miscommunication on the price after confirming the reservation, but Laurel cleared everything up and was a pleasure to work with.

If you are looking for the Capitol Hill experience you will get it here. We were able to walk to the sites and feel what it would be like to be a resident of Washington DC and never had to deal with the traffic. The house was clean, functional and had lots of little touches that a traveler would appreciate, including a dozen eggs and some orange juice in the fridge. It was a lovely stay! Would be nice to one day have another full bath/shower in the 2nd upstairs bathroom (only had a handheld shower with clawfoot tub). Everyone used the king size bedroom full shower and without a door on that bathroom it made it just a little inconvenient. But not a big deal. Great house!

Laurel's home was the perfect choice for our family's visit to DC. It's large enough to feel spacious, yet it's very warm and welcoming. The three bedrooms were exactly what we needed. The entire house was spotless when we arrived. We were a group of 6, and being able to have time in the morning and evening together in a home as opposed to hotel rooms was priceless. We had morning coffee out on the deck which was a great way to start our day. The kitchen is very large and could accommodate 5 people chatting and making drinks while I was cooking dinner. There are two metro stations of almost equal distance away from the home, approximately a 10 - 15 minute walk. You are also about a 10 minute walk from the Eastern Market area with lots of restaurants. There's a Safeway supermarket a 10 minute walk away as well. The neighborhood is beautiful and quiet and family oriented. Laurel was very quick to respond to any questions I had and there were absolutely no issues. I highly recommend this home for a comfortable, lovely stay during your visit to DC.
