House Rules

- Please don't book for someone else using your profile, I rely on your reviews from other people, and if it's for someone else I have no way of knowing, thanks
- Groups living at the cottage are welcome to use it for get togethers. For other events or parties, just let me know what you would require etc. and I will try to help.
- My lovely dog Milly is getting old, and she is generally easy going. However, if you dont like dogs or are allergic, just let me know. I can send her to my mum!
- I'm really sorry, but there is a strictly no smoking policy at the house. You can however smoke in the garden.
- There is a small pond in the garden, so guests need to make sure their children are supervised in the garden at all times. The garden is fenced and gated, and dog proof.
- Bus stop to Edinburgh or Haddington is at end of my farm road. Buses take about an hour into the city centre. Train station six minutes away at Longniddry. Trains take 20 mins to city centre. Local taxi service available (Colin's Cabs ) or by arrangement I can provide transport to station or airport (45 mins away) for an extra charge. By car, Edinburgh is 20-25 mins away. Very easy access to city.
- Please ask me about extra guests before hand

Jilly is very friendly and encourages you to treat the home as your own. Very large kitchen/open dining space means there is plenty of room to move around. Rooms are laid out in such a fashion that you can either have complete privacy or join in with the conversation

Ugston Mill is a lovely home. Jilly welcomed us with warmth and made us feel very relaxed especially as this was our first time in using Airbnb with the owner in residence. We did not feel awkward in her company and she was happy for us to use her home as if it were our own. The accommodation was very comfortable and The Mill has a beautiful garden which made the experience all more relaxing. We would definitely book again in the future.

Jilly is a great host with a lovely home. She gave clear directions so we could find her home, and was very helpful regarding our check-in. Her home is within easy reach of Edinburgh, and made a great base for us to visit the city. Jilly is very knowledgeable about Edinburgh so if you want ideas of what to do or where to go you , she is sure to be able to help. A bonus was her home is dog-friendly and our dog, who likes to roam given the chance, could not find a way out of the garden! Highly recommended as a place to stay.

Jilly's home is just stunning. The cottage really is breathtaking with a beautiful garden we have already decided we will be coming back and bringing our daughter to properly explore Edinburgh. It's a home from home and Jilly was so helpful from the moment we booked. We never felt like we were staying in "someone else's house" it was just so relaxed. She was the most welcoming host and accommodated our early check in requests so we could make our friends wedding in East Lothian. This was a truely wonderful find and we would recommend anyone to stay here.

We stayed with Jilly for two nights and the experience exceeded our expectations. The accommodation is spotless, the bed comfortable, the bathroom clean and fresh, the shared living room, kitchen and dining room spacious and well-appointed. Due to her work commitments we only got to see Jilly for a short while to have a chat one evening. She is a delightful host, interesting and welcoming and had provided lots of little touches like daffodils in the bedroom and make-up/face wipes, toiletries etc in the bathroom. The enclosed garden was really well-fenced and dog-proof and meant it was easy to let our dogs have a play outside. Although she describes the accommodation as B&B, she offers full use of her kitchen and dining room facilities and guests can help themselves to continental breakfast that she provides. We were allocated a shelf in the fridge for our personal stuff which was really appreciated. We loved the freedom these facilities offered and Jilly was so friendly and accommodating you didn't feel you were intruding in her lovely home. The whole experience was five star and we would highly recommend a stay at Ugston Mill.Thank you so much Jilly for a delightful and relaxing time.

This has been the best Airbnb experience I've had yet! Wonderful stay in a beautiful cottage. Jilly's home is warm, bright and spacious - with an amazing kitchen that she kindly let me make myself at home in. The cottage has a great countryside charm with all the modern amenities one would want. Even if one is traveling without a car, this place is well suited with a very close bus stop that made it so easy to get into Edinburgh or to Haddington. Jilly is an amazing host as well. From meeting me getting off the bus, to sharing drinks and chatting with me, to letting me do laundry as I needed, I felt so well treated. Jilly, you are truly a great ambassador for tourism in your country!

Hi there!
My name is Jilly, and I am looking forward to meeting lots of lovely guests from all over the country/world. I live just outside Edinburgh, in East Lothian's lovely countryside.

I am easy going, friendly and approachable and love to meet people from all over the world. I am a trained florist and also as a colour therapist. However, I am presently loving my work as a seasonal tourist advisor for VisitScotland in Edinburgh. It seems like the ideal job for me, as it encompasses all my loves - Scottish history, geography, travel, meeting people, customer services and retail work. Plus I get to practice my French and Italian.

I have a good knowledge of the local area and Scotland in general, so quite happy to help you plan your trip if you need advice. Am equally happy with guests who want to be sociable or others who would rather have their own company. Flexible!

I love travel and have explored many countries. I have five grown up kids, and two grand children so far....

I love to cook, learn about Scottish history, visit new places, design, love movies, horse riding, skiing, walking, parties, going out on the town, shopping, travelling, researching family trees, and the company of friends and family. I have a wheaten terrier, called Milly. She sometimes stays at the house or with my mother nearby.

I can get by in French and Italian, probably understanding more than I can actually speak it!

The places I have on my list to visit soon are Australia again, Fiji, Tuscany again to do a painting course, Denmark for the hygge! and feel the urge to do another island hopping trip out to the Western Hebrides again. I love it out there, just stunning!

I look forward to welcoming you to my home!

Jillyx
