Istanbul is a bustling city, but this is a relatively quiet street especially at night. During the day you may hear some hustle and bustle of people going about their business. You may also hear the call to prayer periodically throughout the day as you would in most of Istanbul, it's part of the experience and the charm. At night it is generally very peaceful.
We lovingly restored this Grade Two Historical Building. While modernising it, we incorporated it's history and used as many original features as we could to retain it's charm.
You will see the coffee table in the sitting room which is made from a door that we restored and re-purposed. The rope details and wooden railings are a nod to the original use of the building by local shipping merchants.
You may notice the difference between this building and some of our neighbours wooden houses. This is because Istanbul and in particular this area of the city was very multicultural. Muslims' buildings were often wooden. Greeks, Armenian's and other communities preferred stone and brick. This was a Greek building and probably used by ship merchants. There are steel protrusions on the side and front of the building and these are probably for winches to move goods through the large windows.
You will have sole and private use of this beautiful penthouse apartment including it's beautiful panoramic roof terrace.

This is for all guests staying not just for the person who makes the booking. Please send us a copy of the documents that you will be using to enter Turkey. For Turkish citizens we require a copy of your Kimlik, for foreign residents please provide a copy of your Ikamet/residents visa and passport. Please send these documents as soon as you have booked.
Please keep the peace. Keep noise to a minimum especially after 11pm and before 8am. This is a quiet residential street and the locals generally don't cause any disturbance or bother anyone so please do the same.
We have a 24hr security camera observing the entrance door, as does our opposite neighbours. Please notify us immediately if there is reason to keep any footage.
Do not invite unsolicited guests, commit any crimes or partake in illegal activity, use the apartment for business or hold business meetings in the building. The apartment is not to be used for photo or film shoots with out prior agreement. Your booking is for normal residential use unless otherwise pre-agreed. 'Working from home' as long as you follow these rules is of course permissible.
Please tell us when you are expecting more than 2 guests. If you are more than 2 sleeping in the apartment, you must pay for additional guests.
Please wipe your feet well when you enter the building and notify me should anyone have made a mess so that we may do our best to have it cleaned promptly.
Please leave the apartment clean and tidy. Please wash or at least rinse the dishes that you use and leave anything that still needs cleaning by the sink.
Please do not remove or tamper with the smoke or carbon-monoxide alarms, they are there for your safety. If there is a problem please get in touch with us immediately.
Please think of the environment. We do not want to waste resources. Please turn off or turn down the boiler when you go out for several hours and at the end of your stay.
Once you leave we will change the sheets and clean the apartment for the next guests. Any cleaning fee that we may collect is for this service and light cleaning.
When using the communal areas please be considerate of other guests. Do not leave your laundry around and please empty the machines as soon the cycle is finished so that someone else may use it.
Should any of the supplies finish or be close to finishing please notify us so that we may replace it before you or another guest needs it again. If you replace it yourself you will have our sincere thanks! That's very good of you.
Should you accidentally brake something or cause some damage, please notify us immediately. We may have another guest coming soon after you and need to prepare for them.
If you leave everything in a good condition and follow the above, we will be more inclined to give you a 5 star review.
We will contact you if we feel that you left the apartment in an unacceptable condition and we reserve the right to request additional fees to cover excess cleaning or repairs and damage control.
We are a young married couple managing this, not a large corporation. Please do not take more than you need.
Thank you and please do contact me should you need to.

I once travelled around for about two years. At first I stayed in Hotels, Hostels or Pensions.
Some were nice but eventually I wanted to feel at home wherever I was in my own temporary home. I wanted to live like a local even if it was just for a short while.
I started renting flats or staying in apart-hotels. It was great value and I really got a better feel for wherever I was. Plus I was without the obligation or hindrance that you can get in pensions and hostels. You know, when you feel obliged to be nice and stay for dinner or go where they suggest. I wanted to do my own thing. Meet people who didn't have a monetary interest in my satisfaction. I was rarely in a particularly touristic part of town but always tried to be close to what I wanted to see or do.
Fast-forward a few years later and I've turned that way of travel into my main business. I've renovated this building with that concept, that feeling in mind... except this is better than all the places that I stayed in.
This place is a rarity. It's on the line between the extreme popular, entertainment city centre, with all the bars, clubs shops, art galleries, shows and all, but then on the other side of the line, there is a historical neighbourhood filled with local charm, that's safe, relatively quiet and has some great local places where the tourists don't go.
It's the place that I always wanted to find whilst travelling. A border of two sides of life. Practical, convenient, family orientated, classical local neighbourhood on one side and the bright lights, never sleeps, everything is going on neighbourhood on the other.
It's like me I guess. I appreciate the simple things, love convenience and practicality but I also need excitement, entertainment and adventure.
Well that's me and this place...
