Experience a breathtaking and charming Rhine panorama above the slate cladded roofs of an medieval town! The sun-dappeled former slate mine ist situated at the rocks underneath Castle Gutenfels, directly at the hiking trail "Rheinsteig". The property is part of the Unesco world heritage and a wildlife sanctuary. Enjoy the terrace, shaded with a vine bower, the mysterious cave entrance of the mine, the traditional herb garden, the secluded relaxing green and the bird´s eye view.
The guest house offers three bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms (with shower and two seperate toilets), a completely equiped kitchen, a dining and living room , a terrace with a vine pergola, a herb garden and a lawn with mediterranean trees as almond, figs and peaches. The lawn is an ideal place for sunbathing, as it is the only and the highest garden level in the neighbourhood and you can not be seen from underneath. But you will have a great view on the river! One large sleeping room is in the studio under the roof and can be used as a family or group room by up to four persons (2 double beds). The other sleeping rooms offer one double bed each. A crib and a babies high chair are available. The property has been a slate-mine until 1869. The garden lies on the 'plane' spoil heap of the mine. Because of this the property is called 'The Plon' by the Kaubians. (From the garden it is possible to visit the adit mouth but ist is not allowed by minimg authorities to climb deeper into the rock.) For 150 years the house was owned by the local driggist family. They planted the herb garden with serveral sorts of thyme, rosemary, sage and much more species. The herbs can be taken by the guests for cooking and teas.
From the central 'Zollplatz' a foot path (between the youth hostel and 'Hotel zum Turm') leads to the 'Schlossweg', a very short way of only 25 meters. As you reach the ' Schlossweg' you turn left and after 15 meters you will reach the house. There is a gate between the garden walls and and a stair leads to the garden level and the entrance underneath the pergola.

Other things to note
A lot of rural regions in Europe Kaub experiences an enormous decline in population. Because of its beautiful scenery, the masses of historic monuments, wildlife sancturies and its fascinating history Kaub and the neighbourhood are very attractiv destinations. Since centuries Kaub lived from shipping, pilot's business and slate mining. Today tourism is the most important economic focus. Renting holiday houses and apartments is a very welcomed opportunity to bring some welfare directly to the region' s inhabitants. Kaub is looking forward to meet its guests - you will recognize this directly! Despite the town counts only 800 people it is very lively and communicating;-) A lot of neighbours are engaged in theater festival, carnival parade, Nikolaus market, the choire, the biking day 'Tal Total' or the current swimming school 'Cubalido'. There we celebrate the summer beach live on the river's island. The Kaubians are very cosmopolitan and tolarant. Gays, lesbian and people of all colors and religion are warmly welcomed.
