The lady from the restaurant Casa do Rei speaks perfectly Portuguese living with her family on Flores for more than 15 years and running this arguably best restaurant on Flores (see reviews on tripadvisor, airbnb) which is frequented by many locals for many years now. Wood is provided in large quantities for our guests' usage in the garden (lower terrace between the fruit trees and the working shed) and we always make sure that there is enough wood for the fireplace inside the living room (in a black barrel) or to use for the BBQ outside. We provide some bottled water, tea, and coffee for our guests upon arrival next to the water kettle and the Casa do Peão (not 'Pedra'!) is a traditional old Azorian stone house with thick walls dating back to the mid 19th century which we fully renovated in the past years using local tiles, wood (e.g., Cryptomeria), or other materials such as volcano stone (see pictures). To be honest, we are a bit confused by your descriptions.
In any case, you would have been more than welcome to contact us at any time during your stay, like you did before your arrival, to solve these misunderstandings around a washing machine that is for our guests' convenience in a separate washhouse, wood, tea etc. and I would have wished to make your stay perfectly enjoyable on our beautiful island. Btw. we hope to finish our pool soon for the enjoyment of our future guests to come. Your comments spoiled the surprise a bit though. (-;
Kind regards and all the best, Laura
