The Casas das Flores - Padeira apartment is close to nature. One of Flores best Restaurants the 'Casa do Rei' is close by, hiking trails lead to canyons and beaches. You’ll love my place because of the ambiance, the outdoors space with a fruit garden, the masoned BBQ. It is good for couples and solo adventurers. If you wish to travel with friends or as family, also check out Casas das Flores - Lareira, giving you space of a complete house (4-6 people).
The Casa do Peão has its name from the old Portuguese word for farmer or peon. It refers to the Casas’ own garden in which guests are welcome to participate in growing and harvesting their own fruits and vegetables. The original stone house was first mentioned in the official registers in 1840 and it still transports the architecture from the olden days with its thick stone walls. In 2015/2016, it has been fully renovated and new bedrooms and bathrooms have been added, resulting in two independent units:
The Padeira apartment is in the west part of the house. Its name refers to an old baking oven in the kitchen that is part of the traditional Azorean houses. People would use it at the same time for drying their laundry.
La Padeira has a fully equipped kitchen, a dining room, one sleeping room for 2 people and bathroom with a shower. The big terrace in front of the house as well as a smaller morning terrace overlooking the ocean can be used e.g., for sunbathing, brunches or social evenings.
Guests have access to the total 3.000 m2 property, including the garden with fresh fruit and the masoned stone grill and a small playground for children.

What to Take
Flores is a subtropical island and when packing you should consider the climate as the weather in the Azores is changeable! Florentines say, if you do not like the weather, wait for 30 minutes. The island enjoys a mild temperate climate throughout the year and benefits from the Gulf Stream; a current of warm water that heads north east from the Gulf of Mexico. The average air temperature varies between 11 and 26°C depending on the time of year and the surrounding ocean averages between 15 and 25°C. Being so far out in the Atlantic, the Azores are prone to rainy days at any time of year, and without these showers of course, you could not enjoy the beautiful flora on the islands that particularly gave Flores its name – Flowers.
