My place is close to Old Cromwell Historic Precinct - a great place to potter around the cafes, Art galleries and little shops. Nearby are vineyards, wineries, orchards and skifields! Lake Dunstan is literally 3 minutes walk from your door and there are lots of walks in the area. Highlands Motorsport Park is close by and you are 40 minutes from both Queenstown and Wanaka. This is a great place to base yourself to explore Central Otago. Any skiers for the coming season contact me ASAP!

The space

This cottage was built in 1895 and comprises of one room which is used as the kitchen/living room. At a later date 2 bedrooms were added (one very small with a sofa bed in it - suitable for maybe 1 adult or 2 small children)and a bathroom all featuring areas of stone walls. Both at the front and back of the cottage there are outdoors areas to relax in. For the upcoming ski season we will be upgrading the heating.

Interaction with guests

We live about 10 minutes away and will be happy to help you if you require.

Other things to note

The sofa bed in the little bedroom is the type that folds out to form a foam mattress on the floor - so maybe not suitable for everyone! The sofa bed in the living room is a more substantial one that folds out as a mattress on a frame at normal bed height!!

I stayed at Jo's cottage with my husband and my brother whilst on a road trip in New Zealand's beautiful South Island. We had a delightful stay! Jo was a wonderful host and the cottage had everything we could have hoped for. Clean, comfy and cosy.

Such a unique property on the street as as far as I could see there are no others like it. Jo is a great host, very welcoming and warm and good on the communication front. The place itself is very cosy and inviting. Being an older style house it may be a bit cool (depending on the time of year), when you first arrive but it is well kitted out with heaters and a very efficient wood burner, so will have the place warmed up in no time. I arrived in Autumn when the nights get cool and it took no time to warm up. Overall it is a very cosy, warm and genuine place which is well appointed and somewhere I would totally consider staying at again.

Our stay in Cromwell couldn't have been more perfect. Jo's cottage was beautifully renovated, welcoming and cosy and provided the perfect retreat whilst exploring New Zealand. We stayed over the Christmas period and Jo couldn't have been more accommodating and considerate, adding lots of extra festive touches to make our stay even more enjoyable. We would highly recommend Jo's place (she is a fantastic host!) and should we be lucky enough to visit the South Island again, we will definitely book Jo's cottage!

This beautiful cottage will blow your socks off with how lovely it is. From the stable door to how comfy the whole place is, you'll really enjoy it, guaranteed! The kitchen is nice and modern, and the woodburner heats the whole house up in a jiffy. The TV is a smart TV and we even signed in to our Netflix account on it (just don't forget to sign back out!). All cozy, comfy, and highly recommended. Jo is a wonderful host.

Jo User ProfileJo is a superhost.

Hey there, Im Jo. My family and I welcome you to our home at Heaney Road or to our beautiful stone cottage in Old Cromwell. We are a busy, happy family and are all very involved in Cromwell life through work (I work locally on farms and vineyards) and school. We enjoy meeting new people and hearing about their adventures but also respect that you may like to just enjoy some peace and quiet!
