Just 8 minutes drive from downtown, with views of the Hobart and the Derwent River from our yard, which is visited by wallabies and other wildlife in the evenings. The walking trails on kunanyi/Mt Wellington are right outside the door.
Our space has a comfortable bed, a little table and chairs for working or eating, a comfortable chair and good storage space, including a hanging closet, bedside table drawers, and baskets for extra storage. We have a small reading library and a TV with limited reception but can provide movies to watch.
There is a big walk -in shower, a separate toilet, a sink, and counter space with a microwave, toaster, electric kettle, and basic kitchen supplies - silverware, plates, bowls etc and cups and glasses. There is a brand new refrigerator with ice and we provide tea, coffee and other basic supplies.
The space is not suitable for cooking but is ideal for a light breakfast, lunch, or takeaway dinner.
There is a lovely deck with table and chairs where you can sit quietly in the evening and watch wallabies, pademelons, bandicoots and possums come out of the bush into our yard. You also have a glimpse of our beautiful mountain (kunanyi/Mt Wellington) from the deck.
Please note that this is not a free standing unit. It is self-contained with a private entrance but is attached to the main house.
We share some of the yard space so will occasionally encounter guests while hanging out the washing or working in the garden. You are welcome to enjoy the northwest corner of the large yard from where we can see the city of Hobart and the Derwent River, including a fabulous view of the annual New Year's Eve fireworks!
Interaction with guests
We leave our guests to themselves in their own private space but are available to answer questions (via text message, phone or email if you prefer).
Lynn is home much of the time and is available if something comes up.
Rosie grew up in Hobart and works at the local government Tourist Information Centre so can offer information about Hobart and the rest of Tasmania or can arrange tour bookings.
We also own a tour company that offers trips to unique and interesting local places and events – you will see our tour bus “Izzy” parked on the property:)
Other things to note
We love having the native animals in our yard, but they can be a bit messy, and the Airbnb space has lovely wool carpets, so please make sure you wipe your feet thoroughly before entering the apartment :)
