The "Log Cabin" is on a smallholding (10 miles from A9) on the picturesque Black Isle with open space all around you, and extensive views out over the Cromarty Firth and the small mountains to the north. Visit the lovely places nearby on the Black Isle or travel further afield (Loch Ness 40 mins). Great for couples and individuals, for a short stop-over or a good self-contained secluded base for a longer, peaceful stay. Comfortable, well equipped, cosy with log burner. Very good internet.

The space
With a sitting room, eating area and kitchen all with great views you have more than just a bedroom to enjoy and you have lovely quiet private accommodation to stay in. There is also an outside decking area, plenty of car parking and adjacent fields and forestry to walk in if you want to be outside after your journey. You can safely leave your things 'at home' knowing you have the Log Cabin to yourself when you go out travelling for the day, go for a meal on the Black Isle or go to the theatre or a concert in Inverness in the evening. Or you can stay in with the log burner lit and enjoy a cosy day or evening relaxing. There are cows and calves, two donkeys, and very free range hens on the smallholding that you can watch, feed or just appreciate.

Guest access
The Log Cabin is self-catering accommodation. With a key given to you when you arrive, you can come and go as you please.

Other things to note
Restaurants are not open every evening and last orders may be by 8 pm (Culbokie Inn) or 9pm at other restaurants. Best to check in advance and make a booking if possible.

The Black Isle is a wonderful place to visit. Visit Cromarty, formerly a fishing village with its lighthouse, harbour and the house museum of Hugh Miller who was a pioneer geologist, walk by the sea and if energetic, climb the South Sutor (hill at entrance to the Cromarty Firth), walk along the beach at Rosemarkie or through the trees of the Faerie Glen and then enjoy Groam Museum, see Fortrose with its cathedral ruins, fine views and look out for dolphins, and wander through Avoch with its tiny fishing cottages and lanes. All these have good places to eat, such as the Anderson in Fortrose, the Plough Inn in Rosemarkie, Sutor Creek and Royal Hotel in Cromarty. Culbokie also has a good restaurant and pub (the Culbokie Inn) which is only a couple of miles from the A9 and 6 miles from the Log Cabin, or try the Allangrange Hotel in Munlochy perhaps together with a visit to the Black Ilse Brewery.

During your stay
I stay on an adjacent smallholding from time to time and am available when not away on business, charity work or family requirements. The assistant cattleman lives full time on site also. Mobile phone reception is good. I recommend ordering a Giffgaff card online in advance to be delivered to your first holiday address - cheapest option I think, especially if coming from abroad outside EU - it operates on the O2 network.
