My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, and families (with older kids).

Enjoy a rustic, scenic, artistic retreat within commute of Boston and just a hop into Providence! You will be staying at an old cotton mill built in 1830, which sits on a pond and is abutted by a river and a waterfall, on over an acre. It is a quiet, open space in a small New England town which is home to Jeff Kinney of Diary of a Wimpy Kid fame, and the independent bookstore he built.

Julie’s rustic mill house is a lovely place to stay. It’s got a rustic, old world feel, with no shortage of modern amenities. The decor in the house is refreshing and spending the golden hours of the day in the west facing great room is simply heavenly. Air conditioning in every…

We loved this house so much. It’s different than any other place we’ve ever stayed—it’s just SO COOL. The building is almost 200 years old, and at some point was converted from a mill to a home. The main attraction is the enormous living space, which includes a spacious kitchen…

Older home in disrepair. No central AC. Dishwasher and dryer do not work. Fixtures in bathrooms do not work. Th home is not safe for children or older people with mobility issues.

Response from Julie:
My listing is explicit that bathrooms and kitchen are not state-of-the-art, but I write to confirm that everything is in working order; shower, faucets, and toilets will all do their jobs to clean and refresh - they are not gorgeous, but you will be. I do not list a dishwasher as an amenity, and my washer and dryer are not available for guest use. Central A/C, luckily, is not in the Bill of Rights, so we make do with window units, one in each bedroom plus the livingroom. They make us comfortable enough in our big old house on the breezy pond, and we escape to Montreal if we're still too hot. My listing makes special note of the multiple flights of stairs both indoors and out, and I advise specifically that it is not suitable for small children. Kathy's reservation paid for 4 adults, but when she arrived they were a party of 7, including her parents and a young child. My current capacity for this listing is 5 people. Nonetheless, I am sorry Kathy's experience of my home was below her expectation. As a new Airbnb user, she will learn that it is worth cultivating a certain uncertain excitement for an authentic foray into another's life and locus. This one is mine - I make it as beautiful and clean as can be, enjoy the depth of its character, and take the lack of perfection as an invitation to keep dreaming.

Julie's place was the perfect retreat for us while visiting family in the area. As described, the house is tastefully decorated with luxurious textures and patterns, has an open floor plan, and old bones. If you're looking for a juxtaposition of old and new, with a peaceful pond …

Julie's place is quirky! The description is accurate. It's a very interesting space. Open floor plan, funky placement for outlets and switches. Fun place to stay in.

Julie graciously accepted us as last minute guests for a five night business stay. We needed a late check in that got much later when our flight was delayed coming in to Boston due to heavy weather. Julie made special arrangements for our late arrival. The home was clean and t…

As an avid Airbnb traveler I have met many wonderful people around the world, and am ready to share my unique home with others in the same way. I am a former international trade attorney, working on a screenplay, and building my next design business.
