This spacious adobe is perfect for couples, groups, and families to enjoy a true Tucson experience. While it's located in a quiet and historic neighborhood, it's also walking distance to the best eateries and cafes. It was originally built in the 1890's. It has two bedrooms, an office, family room, dining room, laundry room and backyard. Like many of the homes in this unique neighborhood, it has an unwavering timeless charm.

The space

Our neighborhood calls this house "The Root Beer House," because there is still a sign on the front of the building from when it was a soda shop in the 50's. It has had many iterations in the 130 years it's been around but was most recently renovated in the last 5 years. We kept as much historic charm as possible while making a few modern updates.
The front of the house is a family room and office, the middle of the house are the two bedrooms with king beds, and a dining room. The back of the house is the kitchen, bathroom and laundry room. There is also a backyard with fruit trees and a fire pit.

Guest access

Guests have access to the entire home. They are welcome to use anything in the house.

Interaction with guests

I am available 24/7 through this site and text messages. There is always someone at a near by property who can come over if an issue arises. But, we like to stay hands off and let our guests do their thing.

Other things to note

This entire home is made from thick adobe walls, half of it is plastered and the other half is raw exposed mud-- so, a little dust is to be expected.

It should also be noted that the bedrooms have curtains and not doors, so, guests will have plenty of privacy but, sound can travel quite easily.

There is a strong internet connection but, no TV.

Some have mentioned the trains in Tucson. We don't notice them, and they are more than a mile away, but it was suggested we make note of that in our listing, and we are now doing so. Be aware that trains run throughout Tucson, so if that is an issue for you, Tucson may be a difficult town to stay in :)

We stayed at the Root Beer Adobe and we were so impressed. The space is thoughtfully designed and intriguingly staged. The beds were very comfortable. Elianna was friendly and available to answer our questions upon check-in. This is the kind of space that keeps you and your party guessing at who the artists are that have filled the house with its interesting features, such as its books, vinyl records, vintage AND modern furniture, photographs and prints...right down to the ceramics in the kitchen cupboard. The building also keeps you guessing at the history. It was very fun to be in such a unique space. We stayed just as the weather was turning from summer to fall, and because of the heat, one of the bedrooms took a little while to cool down. Reluctantly, we lowered the AC to initially cool the space. Once cooled though, the cement floors help keep it that way. Absolutely no complaints. I would definitely visit again!

This space is adorable! I didn't spend much time in it but it's so charming and the beds are super comfy. Everything I read in the description is accurate.

This lovely home is much larger than expected, with high beamed ceilings and a neutral palette - very relaxing. If you're interested in a bit of Tucson history, this heritage home is perfectly located. It's close to dining and entertainment, but in a quiet old barrio neighborhood that is sure to charm.

My friends and I had the best time at Krysta's Airbnb. The adobe is located on a quiet street and was so beautifully decorated . We loved all the little details of the place and everything you need is provided. There's plenty of space and everything was extremely clean and well kept. Krysta was extremely accommodating and was a great host.

Really nice place. Unique feel that fits the area well. Gas stove was a little scary, but really cool. Would strongly recommend.
