Peace and quiet

Guests say this home is in a quiet area.
Brock Cottage is an idyllic base for exploring the Lake District and Cumbria's south and west coasts. Nestled in a historic cobbled courtyard, this romantic cottage is a moment's walk from the Georgian square and the pubs, restaurants and shops of Broughton-in-Furness. Our 18th Century cottage has beams and an open fire. The bench in the courtyard, and the rear seating area with barbeque overlooking gardens both catch the sun at different times of day, making this the ideal place to relax.

The space
NOTE extra charge for use of snug. The cottage (3 storeys immediately to the left of the archway) dates from the 1750s, with a slate floor in the living room. The open fire is set for a cosy night in, with a full coal scuttle provided (October till April). Additional fuel is available from the garage in Broughton. There is a bike locking point under the archway. A high chair, travel cot and stair gate on the ground floor are provided.
Zip & link super-kingsize bed available as alternative to 2 singles in first floor room - please let me know if you would like this. I can also set up the sofa bed in the snug on the first floor instead of one of the singles if guests prefer separate rooms or for a 5th guest (additional £15 charge per night, minimum £45). There is a toilet on this floor.
The double bed is on the second floor along with the bathroom.
Parties are not permitted.
Up to 2 dogs welcome downstairs only: please use stair gate! (let me know if you are bringing a dog when you book).

Guest access
The courtyard is shared with other cottages, the archway and gravel area to the rear belong to the neighbour, but cottage users have access over this to the rear concreted seating area which is private for Brock Cottage. The garden belongs to the neighbour - please do not use!
The access to the courtyard is narrow, and available for unloading from a small car only - please do not park under the archway. Parking available in New Street or the Square. Key code is listed on AirBnB under "house manual", visible once you have booked.

Other things to note
Mountain biking, walking, horse riding, fishing, sailing and cruising on the Lakes are all accessible, beautiful coastline within 2 miles. Coniston 20 minutes. The La'al Ratty narrow gauge railway from Ravenglass to Boot in Eskdale is a great day out, with walks to waterfalls from the top. Muncaster Castle is a wonderful place to visit (near Ravenglass, 30 minutes from Broughton).
