Definition of a Beach House: A house built on or "near" a beach.
The beach is exactly 4 minutes walk down the road from this house.

This adorable house belongs to Miss Kiwi and her sweet mom Paola!
My name is Yash. I am the online host. I help manage all of the online pages for this house. find us on TripAdvisor, Gooqle Maps, Instagram, and Face B! just search "Casa Kiwi / El Jardin"

Kiwi, short for "Yurquivis"(jur-kibis), speaks excellent English and is such a wonderful hostess, so kind, so genuine, so honest, and as good as you will find anywhere!
Of course the same goes for Kiwi's adorable mom, Paula, who is just a sweetheart and so much fun! if you would only engage with her for few minutes, weather you speak Spanish or not, she will put a big smile on your face cheek to cheek, no doubt!:)

Back in 2012 I accidentally discovered this beautiful OASIS while exploring La Boca, a sleepy seaside fishing village less than 10 minutes outside of Trinidad.

The tranquility and peacefulness of this house, along with it's many charms just grabs your attention the moment you enter!

It's colorful garden-patio, right in the middle of the house, is filled with beautiful exotic plants everywhere. There are 4 rocking chairs, a hammock, a swing, and many colorful plants all around!

On one side of the garden there are 2 comfortable guestrooms with own private bathrooms and showers, plus AC.
On the second floor, directly above, there are 2 newly build guestrooms with a beautiful terrace overlooking the garden.

On the far side of the garden is a separate large backyard full of delicious fruit trees and plants, where Kiwi's delicious organic fruits and vegetables usually come from.

Each morning the guests who wish to have breakfast can expect to wake up to fresh juice & delicious fruits, mostly from Kiwi's own backyard, along with home eggs, local honey, delicious Cuban cheese, plus of course the wonderful Cuban coffee!

And on the opposite side of the backyard is the kitchen where Kiwi and mom Paola prepare their wold famously meals for their wonderful guests from all around the world.

There are also 3 little friends who share this house. Champi is the intelligent guard dog, Mr Anton the handsome cat, and a beautiful shy parrot called Miss Cooki.

Together, this wonderful family keeps their home beautiful, and their guests always happy, helping them create wonderful memories of CUBA!

Guest access

Ther private side entrance to the courtyard allows the guests access to their rooms, so no worries about waking up anyone if you decide to dance the night away in TRINIDAD and come home late! Just ask Kiwi to leave a key for you.

The courtyard is a common area for guests to share.

The kitchen and the cooking is only for the host please.

Love, respect, and lots of JOY are the main rules of this "Casa".

Please come as you are and do as you wish, as long as you come with love and respect.

Please note:
- This is a family home, please treat it accordingly.
- Please avoid any illegal activity.
- For everyone's security you are not allowed to invite anyone, especially new Cuban friends back to the house/room unless you first register their ID/info with your host! This will be Extremely problematic as Cuban laws strongly hold home owners responsible in making sure all guests in the house are registered.

- This is a fully licensed guesthouse. The government of Cuba requires such guesthouses to record their guests passport infos, along with arrival and departure dates, and report it to the local immigration offices within 12hrs of their guests arrivals and pay the required fees. So up on your arrival please present your passports to the host so she can create a log. This is the law and is normal for ALL licensed guesthouses in Cuba, though some homes do cheat and skip this procedure to save money on fees.

If this is your first trip to Cuba then please be aware Cuban homes on average are very modest compared to homes and standards of living/comforts in the 1st world countries.
The #1 difference is their water systems. The tap water is not recommended for tourists to drink, though the Cubans do drink it themselves, but to be safe and avoid any stomach issues please avoid drinking tap water.
You can easily buy 1.5L water bottles for only $1.50 or less everywhere, and your host will sell this as well.

The water pressure in most Cuban homes are very low due to their poor water systems. Because of this showers can be challenging if the water is being used at the same time by others.

If you feel you may not be able to handle Cuba's modest living conditions then you will probably not enjoy your trip!
But if you can adjust and overlook, then you will enjoy yourself and have a fantastic trip as millions do each year!

If you have any questions please feel free to ask me.

Kiwi is an amazing host. Her English is perfect and she gives great advice for what to do in the local area - Trinidad, the beaches etc. Her home is stylish and even though there were building works going on, the builders didn’t start making noise until most people were up and out. Breakfasts were good and our dinner there (Lobster) was one of our favourites in Cuba. The house is a cab ride away from trinidad and the beaches so we did end up spending quite a bit on taxis but that’s not the end of the world.

This was our favorite casa in Cuba! Kiwi and her mum were so welcoming and helpful. Kiwi speaks great english and was always around to help with questions or taxi bookings. We were sent a lot of very helpful information when we made the booking, much appreciated. The rooms were large and clean all with their own bathrooms (decent showers). The real selling point was the outside space. There was a lovely garden with avocado and mango trees which provided a nice cool space to relax. The casa has a fridge full of water, soft drinks and beer for guests to purchase (pay on departure). The casa also offers good breakfasts, dinner and laundry. The casa has three permanent guests - Champi, Cookie and Anti - the dog, parrot and cat, who are also very friendly! We weren't hugely impressed with La Boca itself, it is a small residential village. The prettiest part of which is Kiwi's casa. The small beach was covered in a lot of rubbish when we were there. However it's well placed just outside Trinidad and not far from Playa Ancon (a lovely beach). Taxis were cheap and convenient.

We really enjoyed our stay in this casa particular! Very close to the beach, yet 5 mins drive from Trinidad, the house is nice located in a residential area. Kiwi was very accommodating, welcoming and informing, when we wanted to learn about everyday life in Cuba. The food was great, and the garden where is it served even more beautiful than in the pictures. Looking foreword to coming back!

Our stay at El Jardín was amazing - great location in La boca, amazing food, wonderful people and a great place to stay and meet other travellers. The rooms were clean and spacious and it felt like home for 4 days! We also received a message from Yash in advance with lots of useful tips and informstion for Cuba which was brilliant. One of my favourites in Cuba and I would definitely return!!! Thank you!!!!

Kiwi greeted me on arrival and the house was exactly as shown in the photos. Kiwi and her mum her lovely hosts and really want you to enjoy your stay. Breakfast (for 5CUC) was delicious and plentiful and I had a choice of how I wanted my eggs which were served with bread, ham and cheese. I was given a whole plate of fruit to start as well as coffee and fresh juice. Highly recommend eating dinner here as the food is guaranteed delicious and at whatever time you request. In a restaurant in Trinidad you can wait 1.5 hours for food that doesn't even taste good. Kiwi helped me organise a taxi colectivo back to Havana which saved me a lot of money as I was traveling alone. There was building work in the kitchen which was right next to my room (loud banging and drilling) during the day which made it hard to relax in the house or garden. The room isn't soundproof at all so definitely bring earplugs as people are up early making noise. Overall, would recommend if you like to get up early and be out for the day. Although I'm sure once the building work is finished it will be much more tranquil during the day.

Response from Yash:
Rhian, I'm really sorry to hear that you weren't able to relax during the day. I wish you had brought this up to Kiwi and family to see if they could have moved you upstairs to one of the rooms there, or delay the renovations! Usually the guests go out exploring during the day so Kiwi and family do many things around the house, and I'm sure they didn't realize you were still in your room! I would be happy to offer you a free stay on your next visit, or provide you with a partial refund if that helps. please let me know, and again I'm really sorry, but I'm happy at least that you were able to enjoyed the rest of your time there. Cheers.
