The space
Dunworley House has everything you need for a big family holiday.

Split your party between movie watchers and natterers using our two big sitting rooms, cook up a storm in the kitchen, enjoy delicious local produce in the dining room, and sink into wonderfully comfortable beds.

We're a foodie bunch so the fully equipped kitchen is the heart of the house for us.
If you’d rather your holiday involved a break from cooking ask us about our catering for a farm-to-fork West Cork experience.

In the summer you can play croquet, boules or table tennis on the front lawn, or fire up the barbecue and eat al fresco. When kids aren't splashing in the sea they can play on the swing or in the tree house.

The house has a big collection of books and DVDs for you to enjoy as you unwind.

Relax after your day's excursions with a sundowner in the garden, or curl up by the cosy fires with a book- Dunworley House is the perfect place to unwind no matter the season.

Lovely comfortable mattresses and soft feather & down pillows will ensure a deep slumber after your lovely walks or local gigs!

We are big on keeping things sustainable, ethical & ecological at Dunworley. We like guests to recycle everything they can while with us.
Your food waste feeds our chickens to make our eggs yolks a deep, delicious orange & your compost goes back into our organic garden and grows the delicious produce we cater for you with :)

OPTIONAL CATERING:
** (advance booking for this is essential) **

If your kind of holiday includes a break from the skillet then we can help.

Our stunning chemical-free garden is part of the magic behind Dunworley Cottage.

Location

Dunworley, County Cork, Ireland

This thrillingly remote retreat offers all the bonuses of an ‘off-grid hideaway’ but is within easy reach of a range of West Cork’s vibrant, bustling towns and villages, from musical Clonakilty to historic Kinsale and beyond…

Dunworley Bay sits on a rugged and enchanting stretch of Atlantic coast known as the Seven Heads. So if you love long, beautiful walks along headlands, exploring ring forts and watch towers or climbing along rocky coastline discovering untouched coves and beaches- this is heaven!
The areas offers a range of activities from cycling, to riding and all kinds of water sports. We love surfing, kayaking, rock jumping, swimming and body-boarding at Dunworley Beach- all year round if you’re brave!

Fishermen will delight that there is excellent fishing straight from the beach, or Richard can take you out in the bay in our little boat to catch some mackerel.

The sands are washed clean by the lovely unpolluted sea every day, the air is fresh, and we get no light pollution… so you can enjoy undisturbed views of the incredible canopy of stars on night time wanders.

Clean, unpolluted sea & air means on clear, dark nights in July, August & September, bioluminescent plankton light up the waves like bursts of fireworks. Phosphorescence!

Friends you might meet along your way include seals, dolphins, porpoises, basking sharks and sometimes even whales!

If you would like to adventure away from Dunworley, there is no shortage of things to do…

West Cork is renowned for its artisan food and there are scores of fantastic, award winning, restaurants nearby, some of the best of them are within a 10-20 minute drive. We have four Michellin starred restaurants in Cork county!

We are within easy reach of many of Cork’s famed golf courses such as the internationally renowned ‘Old Head of Kinsale’.

If you like horses, you can go to the races or can hire ponies to trek along the beaches.

Check out nearby Kinsale or Glandore for sailing, or Courtmacsherry for deep-sea fishing and whale watching trips.

The lovely Blarney castle is only an hour away, where you can kiss the stone and be blessed with the gift of the gab, or just wander in the beautiful grounds and have tea in the cafe.

Ancient Drombeg stone circle (3000 BC.) is 45 minutes away, pre-dating Stonehenge it’s well worth checking out!

For anyone with an interest in gardening, Bantry House and Gardens and Garnish Island (designed by Richard’s Great Uncle) are beautifully landscaped and not to be missed.

West Cork has gained a reputation internationally for its friendly people, relaxed attitude, charming villages, fantastic restaurants, pubs, and live music venues.

For those with an interest in the history of Ireland’s most beloved drink, Middleton distillery (set up by Richard’s Grandfather) is within striking distance, where you can sample whiskey to your heart’s content!
