I was trained as a ceramic artist and my Westport River cottage reflects my creative sensibilities, both in the fully renovated interior and the gardens which I've further developed with each passing year.
Three bedrooms. One (with a comfortable queen bed) features a river view thanks to french doors leading to the large deck. Four other guests will be comfortable in single and bunk beds along the light-filled bedrooms along the side of the cottage. Our renovation opened up all the spaces: gourmet kitchen, living/sitting area featuring a beautiful stone fireplace (that alas doesn't draft well enough to be used!), dining for 8+ facing the river, and a second comfortable sitting area (with cable tv and a sound system). The back deck is expansive, framed by lush gardens, and just steps from the river itself.
Guests have access to all areas of the cottage.
Interaction with guests
When guests use my home I am normally in Boston, but available by phone or email should any questions or concerns arise. A good friend lives just over the stone wall by the cottage should any significant need arise!
Other things to note
The Westport River is steps from my large deck and can be explored by kayak or canoe. And Westport itself offers miles of easy biking on both sides of the river. Insurance concerns mean that guests must bring their own kayaks and/or bicycle.
The cottage is my home and I trust that guests will treat it as if it were there own!
Guests may use their own bicycle, kayak or canoe at their own risk, but not the owner's.
The fireplace is gorgeous but currently can't be used for a fire.
The house is right on the river, but the river bottom is not suitable for swimming. A kayak may be launched easily.
I prefer not to welcome guests with small children or pets.
During the summer especially the gardens occasionally need watering and the grass mowing. My handyman takes care of these needs. I will coordinate with guests to ensure that his infrequent visits do not impose on their vacation.
