Enjoy the tranquility of the desert in the heart of beautiful Scottsdale. A spacious private home awaits you, providing you plenty of room to simply kick back and RELAX.

A charming patio, gas fireplace, open kitchen, and comfortable living room are just a few of the many pleasures. We have made our home, your home.

Access to world class shopping, gourmet dining, championship golf courses, and plenty of hiking is literally minutes away, providing you the perfect personal retreat destination!

The space
We hope to provide you a feel of the Old West while furnishing the comforts of modern day living. We have blended the rustic style of Arizona with many of the high quality amenities that will make your stay special.

Our guest house was built in 2002, providing a winter getaway for Sara's parents from the cold of their Missouri farm. The house has a private driveway and entrance, a spacious kitchen that opens to a great room, full laundry, gas fireplace, two private bedrooms and 1 & 1/2 baths, along with a hall closet and walk-in closet. The total square footage is over 1,300 square feet. The high ceilings provide an even greater feeling of roominess.

Over the years, we have had many friends and family stay in the house, expressing how comfortable and homey it feels. The interior space is very open, with the kitchen, living room, and dining room all nicely blending together. This was specifically designed to allow for meal preparation to be a social time for everyone in the house to enjoy.

The large kitchen has been well outfitted by Sara with most of the kitchenware you will need. Let us know if there is something that might be helpful as we are always looking at ways to better your experience. There is plenty of counter space for those with culinary skills. The appliances are modern and full sized (we have added a new microwave above the stove since the initial pictures were taken). A blender, toaster, and coffee maker are there to complete your morning ritual as well.

Ceiling fans are in every room including the kitchen, making it very comfortable during the warmer months of the year. Lots of natural light is present throughout the house, helping to brighten your spirits.

The master bedroom includes a queen sized bed and comfy chair for reading, napping, or simply relaxing. The second bedroom has a double bed with views of the barn at hand. Each bedroom has a dresser to store your belongings if you so desire. We have also purchased a queen sized sofa bed that includes a foam mattress. There is plenty of closet space in the house to hang those things that need hanging!

We provide both high speed cable and wifi, setup exclusively for use in the guest house. This allows you the security and privacy we all appreciate. There is also a piano and guitar for you on hand if you are musically inclined.

That's just the inside! Outside you will walk out onto your private patio and enter your personal desert botanical garden. There is a table for meals along with comfortable patio seating. The old horse stable creates the centerpiece of the property, transporting you back to the rustic days of the neighborhood. We have turned it into an outdoor space for entertainment purposes; it is yours to enjoy as well. The city has literally grown around our unique community of horse property.

The view deck off of the main house is also available for your use. We have enjoyed many delightful sunsets talking with friends and family while savoring a glass of wine.

Guest access
You are free to enjoy the gas barbecue, hot tub, pool (not heated), barn, and view deck as you would please. We want you to know that the pool is directly off of the main house and is not a private space while the hot tub is located in a more private area of the property. What makes this property special is the fact that it is an acre lot and the way each house is situated, privacy is quite easy to maintain without the need for walls or fences. This makes for a nice, wide open feel.

Other things to note
Welcome to one of the most popular destinations in the world, Scottsdale, Arizona!

If you desire shopping, Kierland Commons and The Scottsdale Quarter are less than 5 minutes away and are home to some of the finest dining, too. Scottsdale Fashion Square, Scottsdale Waterfront, and Old Town Scottsdale also provide a wonderful nearby shopping and dining experience.

Are you more of an outdoors person? There are miles of beautiful desert hiking trails and mountain summits that are calling your name. I have personally hiked most of the mountains myself including Camelback Mountain, Piestewa Peak, Thompson Peak, and Pinnacle Peak (all visible from our view deck!). The Dreamy Draw and McDowell Sonoran Preserve Mountain trails offer various levels of hiking that are also mountain bike friendly.

You can also join the literally millions of golfers who have made Scottsdale their golf destination of choice with some of the highest rated courses in the world just a short drive away. If you view the map of our location, you will see numerous course within just a few miles. The Scottsdale TCP (less than 5 miles from our home) boasts crowds of over half a million during the Phoenix Open in January!

Are you a car junkie? If so, you MUST get to the Barrett Jackson Auction in January. This is the world's largest classic car auction. I promise, you will not be disappointed. By the way, it is also less than five miles from our house.

Let's play some baseball! For you fans (of which I am), I believe there is no better place in the world. Spring Training begins in February and runs until the end of March. In less than 30 minutes from our house you can get to Scottsdale Stadium (Giants), Salt River Field (Diamondbacks and Rockies), Tempe Diablo Stadium (Angels), Sloan Park (Cubs), and Hohokam Stadium (A's). The Diamondbacks begin play in April and run through September. Then the Arizona Fall League runs from October through right before Thanksgiving, showcasing many of the games future stars. I am always available to talk baseball with anyone interested! I have had the pleasure of working as the chiropractor for the Kansas City Royals here since 2005.

If you would like to experience a bit of the Old West, take a drive up to Cave Creek and Carefree. They have captured much of the charm of rustic Arizona life in the early days.

We also boast one of the finest zoo's in the country as well as the world class Desert Botanical Garden. While here, you can visit the world famous Musical Instrument Museum (MIM) as well as the Butterfly Wonderland. The list of things to do (including relax) is endless!

I encourage you to visit the Guidebook link that Airbnb has created based upon the recommendations of thousands of visitors to the Valley of the Sun. It is an AMAZING resource with options including what to do, where to go, and what to eat; all recommended by people like you.

Thanks, Airbnb!

For those in need of high speed internet, we have installed a top of the line modem and router for specific use in the guest house. No sharing networks or speed reductions due to over use with others on the network. This is a 5g connection that is distinctly set up for the guest house through Cox, maximizing your privacy. Work or play, we have a wifi network to handle it!

What makes our neighborhood unique is the fact that we reside in this hamlet of horse property right in the middle of the city. Large one acre lots mean we enjoy plenty of space to spread out, yet we have easy access to all the perks and amenities Scottsdale is famous for.

You will see rabbits and quail sharing our property. You may also see the occasional roadrunner and coyote! Don't be alarmed. They are quite timid and are simply passing through. Just don't try to pet one! We are accustomed to sharing the roads with our neighborhood horses as well. They appreciate it when you slow down and give them respect. Never saw any of these things on the streets of New Jersey, I can tell you!

Our church, Chaparral Christian, is less than a half mile down the street. If you so desire, you are welcome to join us on any given Sunday. Sara has been an associate minister there for years and it has truly become our home. Just let us know and we will fill you in on the details.

I was born and raised in northern New Jersey in the shadow of New York City. In 1987, I moved to St. Louis to complete my studies in chiropractic. My wife Sara and I moved to Scottsdale in 1993 to begin my practice, which continues to keep me busy. We also have two amazing children, both currently in college (fun, huh?). In 2005, I received the opportunity to begin working with the Kansas City Royals during their Spring Training in Arizona and am now the proud owner of a 2015 World Series championship ring. The dream job for a lifetime baseball fan! I have also written a book on health entitled "The Common Sense Guide to Healthy Living." Let me know if you would like a complementary signed copy! My wife, Sara, was an elementary school teacher in St. Louis when we met. After our children were well established in school, she decided to make a change and return to acedemia to earn her Masters of Divinity. She is currently an associate minister at our church that is conveniently located only a few blocks away. You are more than welcome to join us if you wish. She is an amazing person who was born to serve others. We are both very excited to welcome you to your home away from home (mi casa es tu casa) and look forward to making your stay special. By the way, that is the extent of my Spanish!
