Check in time is 12PM (noon) - 9PM

Due to the age of the house and some of its features, we expect children, animals and badly behaved adults(!) to be supervised in the house and grounds at all times.

We would also expect guests to act responsibly in the interests of their own safety.

Expect something homely, rustic and authentic, rather than perfection or luxury. There will be leaks, creaks and cobwebs but a true Cornish Gem of a home.

6 of us stayed at Rema’s house over the New Year’s weekend (2016) and we all had sooo much fun. Rema met us at the local pub and lead us to the house where she then showed us around and made sure we were made to feel instantly at home. We had been provided with fresh linen on readymade comfortable beds and lots of clean towels in the bathroom and toilets. In the fridge, we had been given milk, butter and a bottle of wine. We also had bread, biscuits, jam, tea and coffee and fresh flowers in every room and plenty of logs to burn in the open fireplace. The kitchen had all the utensils we needed to cook our meals, we even managed to make birthday cake. The house was warm and cosy with a great central heating system and a new shower room with electric shower, so plenty of hot water for all of us. The house itself is full of character and has some unique features. We had great fun exploring all the rooms. From what I understood it has been in Rema’s family for generations and we certainly felt like we were holidaying at Grandad’s house. With no Wi-Fi or phone signal to distract us, our time together was fantastic. We enjoyed playing board games and having real conversations with each other. There is a sound system with a varied selection of CD’s which provided some hilarious entertainment. Handover was relaxed and (with the limited means of communication available) easy going. Thank you Rema and family for our great holiday. We highly recommend it to anyone looking for accommodation with real personality and who’s owner takes the time to go above and beyond for their guests.

First off, I would recommend having a car for traveling around the area. The place is an old Georgian manor with more of a 70's interior that's a bit rough around the edges. Some doors not shutting others handles come off, but mostly just aesthetic imperfections. If you are looking for an authentic experience of this part of the country, this is it. My family (5 people) stayed here for 3 nights and we were very much in love with the place when we left. There was more than enough space for us to relax and enjoy ourselves. All the appliances were in well working order including Rema so kindly bringing us a hairdryer to borrow. The place had very good heating and had comfortable beds. The open fireplace is fantastic and Rema was so attentive about getting us more wood to use. There were so many personal touches like fresh flowers all over the house and having staples like bread, milk, coffee, and jam made us feel so welcome. We would love to stay again and really enjoyed meeting Rema and her family. She was very communicative and attentive to all our needs. One other thing to note - we intentionally enjoyed the lack of wifi but weren't expecting no cell coverage. (Able to get it if you walk around outside)

I am from a family who love to travel and see the cultural side of the places we visit. I also travel a lot for work and much prefer homes to hotels.
