Peaceful, spacious, beautifully renovated house - a short walk from Bundanoon high street but a world away from the city. Lots of room to socialise or to have quiet time; wake to the sound of birds, enjoy the firepit, sit at the "champagne bar", read in front of the log fire or enjoy long lunches at one of the dining tables. Its a quick walk to Bundy for coffee or lunch and less than 1 Km into the fabulous Moreton Park with it's great walks and cycle tracks. And don't miss the local wineries!
This is the perfect place for a group of friends to get away and relax ... the kitchen, dining area and lounge all flow into one so its ideal for chilling out over long lunches that turn into dinner - and we have plenty of board games on hand. And a big TV for those that don't like games. The kitchen is new, with a big gas range and top of the range appliances, cookware and tableware. We've just bought a coffee machine, so if you are a coffee lover, you can bring beans and have freshly brewed coffee on the veranda!
There are 4 bedrooms; each has a heater; a near silent ceiling fan, and electric blankets on the bed. They all have feather and down duvets and pillows and 100% cotton bedding. There are bath towels in each room and hand towels in the bathroom. The dragonfly room gets amazing dawn views and we have not put curtains on the end window as it’s so lovely to lie in bed and watch the dawn break. This is our favourite room and the one we use. We store some of our things in here - but there is still plenty of storage. The iron and ironing board are in the wardrobe in this room. All the other rooms have curtains on all windows and doors onto the veranda.
The bathroom is quite special - its our favourite room overall - the photos are real .. in fact probably don't do it full justice. There is not much better than a glass of wine in that bath, with the windows open watching sunset.
If the weather is good, there is a dining table and fire pit in the grounds and another dining table, a gas BBQ and some comfy seats on the veranda. We now also have a Tesla charging station for use of our guests who are lucky enough to have Teslas (sadly not us)! We also have 2 mini donkeys, Freddie and Mr Percival, who have their own part of the garden but so love to be scratched.
This is our home, so we are adding to it and improving it all the time - we hope you love it as much as we do. For more pictures, check us out on (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) - @cityorsticks.
We are on 2.5 acres that are not "improved" yet but full of birds, butterflies and the odd wombat. Sit on the wrap around veranda or by the fire pit (toasting marshmallows!) and enjoy the amazing sunrises and sunsets over the nearby Moreton National park. The kitchen and main bathroom are brand new and all 4 bedrooms have just been redecorated. Check us out at cityorsticks to see what we've done to the place this year .. and we are set on making it even better.
When we are here, we do yoga on Sunday mornings - on the veranda or in the gardens; its a perfect way to start the day and the lovely Mel will be happy to come and take a private class for you if you're interested. Let us know when you book. Her contact details are on the photos page. We've just team up with a local cider producer, the 'Pomologist' who hand make small batch biodynamic, organic cider. We will leave you a bottle of their cider to enjoy during your stay. We can also organise wine to be there on your arrival and advise on where to get good supplies for your stay locally - just drop us a note before you arrive.
Interaction with guests
We probably won't be around but will leave you a detailed welcome letter and will be on the phone if needed.
Other things to note
The place isn't suitable for children; the high verandas and lots of big, lead light windows make it a bit too risky for small people. There is a laundry which we don't generally make available; if you are here for a long stay and its important to you - let us know and we can work something out. We also have 2 mini donkeys on the property; they love attention! Locking gates etc is super important in case they escape!
This is our home and we would like you to enjoy it and treat it as your home while you are staying with us. The house only sleeps 8 and this is the maximum number of guests we are able to accept. There are no sofa beds, camp beds etc. If extra people come during the day, we would ask that they leave by 10.30 pm.
We are asked a lot about children. The house really is not set up for children and there are several features (glass, fires, high veranda) that make it unsuitable for children, so we are sorry but this needs to be a strict rule as we are obliged under Airbnb rules to provide a duty to care to all guests - and don't feel that we can honour this for children in this house.
We would ask that there is no smoking any where on the property.
Finally, if you could empty the bins at the end of your stay into the big ones at the end of the drive then pop the red and yellow one by the road, we'd really appreciate it.

We came to Sydney as part of a 6 month trip in 2009; we were going to be here for 2 months before heading back to the UK via SE Asia. We are still here - we are having to work through the bits we missed more slowly!
We are lucky enough to live in 2 wonderful places - Balmain and Bundanoon. We bought the house in Balmain as a derelict and spent the next couple of years working by day and trying make it habitable the rest of the time - never again, we said! We are now at it again, and are most of the way though renovating our place in Bundanoon - which is where we spend our spare time, playing with our mini donkeys, Freddie and Mr Percival.
Having arrived in Sydney and Bundanoon as visitors, we have loads of tips for things to do and places to visit; we love eating out, drinking in good bars and finding fun and interesting things to do, so are happy to help with recommendations.
