Overlooking the Kabani river, this cottage is aptly placed for a thorough nature experience. Suitable for couples, families with children. Children will enjoy the variety in the mixed farm and the thrill by the river. Could do your fishing too. Adults can enjoy a relaxed day with their book and coffee. An evening drink by the campfire with your loved ones, will surely complete the experience.

Cottage is within a fenced 2 acre farm. You may leave aside worries of how secure the place is. Cheers.

The space

This 2 Acre mixed farm is located by the banks of the river Kabani. We grow, coffee, pepper, nutmegs, areca nuts, coco nuts including other spices, vegetables and rice. Kabani Riverside is situated by the road side, providing ease of access. Right across where we are is a 300 Acre Paddy farming collective, which provides year round occupation for the numerous tribal villages which surround it. Walking through these fields and among the tribals, gives a real world feel of the life and culture of Wayanad.
The elaborate Kerala cusine, the tribal traditions and local handicrafts add to the flavour of your stay here. Leave it to us to plan your experience here.
I personally love sitting by my campfire in the night here taking in the chill which settles during the night.

Kabini Riverside Cottage extended us this warm, wet(it was raining) and unexpected hospitality. Dilip's in laws, Mr. and Mrs. Philip are the most gracious, helpful and welcoming hosts. Dilip was extremely prompt in his response post my booking confirmation and Mr. Philip immediately sent me the location of the cottage. I kept in touch with him throughout my drive from Bangalore so he knew when to expect us. The moment we arrived, Prem their sweet and amazing caretaker helped us with our luggage and brought us a hot cuppa. Icing on the cake - a fire place was ready and waiting for us. Since it was late, we ate dinner with them. While breakfast is included in the package, lunch and dinner is not. However, if you're looking for an AMAZING local home cooked meal, please request them, and for a nominal charge, they'll cook up something tasty for you. We were lucky and it's easy when you're a couple. We stayed there for 3 nights. Mr. Philip will plan and give an itinerary for you to travel around Wayanad. Make sure to visit the tea estates if you're going in Monsoon. Kerala is untouched, green, lush and gorgeous. The tree house by itself was extremely clean and comfortable, surrounded by the plantation. Most of the stuff grown there is used in their daily cooking therefore being as organic as it comes. Bathroom is a little small, but adequate. My husband enjoyed lounging on the hammock reading a book while I looked forward to my morning coffee sitting on small patio overlooking the Kabini river. My husband and I enjoyed a few glasses of wine there as well. Both Mr. and Mrs. Philip were teachers and are extremely well informed and therefore will give you small pieces of trivia about anything you need to know about the place. I was looking forward to some peace and quiet and I got it. When I closed all my other senses, I could hear close to 5 different types of birds. So overall, I got way more than I expected.

Kabini is perfect for a getaway that is peaceful and close to nature. The place is very well maintained. Dilip's family is an absolute joy. They invited us to their place for breakfast and showed us around their farm (Thanks for the passion fruit). It felt like home. Highly recommended.

The treehouse is stunning at dawn and dusk, especially since it's right on the water. I loved reading on the balcony and watching the sky change colors. Dilip's family go above and beyond- providing delicious breakfast including fruits from their garden as well as other Kerala specialties. Babu, Dilip's father-in-law also went to great lengths to connect me with farmers in the area, and give me a beautiful route to run on. They are genuinely wonderful people. The room itself is very small, and being literally a treehouse- there are bugs and spiders that despite having screens on all the windows and doors, are hard to keep out. My only complaint was that when it rained, the roof leaked and wet my entire suitcase. For an already slightly cramped room, the inconvenience of a leaking roof soaking all my belongings was quite frustrating.

A great place to have a relaxed getaway with no one to bother. The place is easily accessible and has some great traditional Kerala messes for food in 1-2 kms radius. Dilip's in laws are amazing hosts and treated us like family. The river adds to the serenity of the place and once can relax at the river bank in the evenings. With all the greenery and seclusion around, this is one of the best listings on AirBnB in Wayanad.

Dilip was a lovely host. The effort and love that they have taken to build the cottage really shows and it's one of the most beautiful, serene and calming places I've seen. Make sure you visit in the winters as I'm sure it would be even better!

Swinging in a hammock on a lazy summer afternoon, watching fireflies light up your summer night and waking up to the sound of birds chirping early in the morning.Couldn't have asked for more .. This is the go to place if you want to spend time close to nature yet not too far from all essentials.. The property is awesome and well maintained.. The cottage is thoughtfully built and designed. the river is just stone's throw away from the sit out area.. Dilip's parents are great hosts and teachers by profession. They will make you feel comfortable throughout your stay. They served delicious authentic Kerala food for breakfast and also offered farm grown fruits along with breakfast... Green tranquil nature with great host and delicious breakfast. Enjoyed every part of our stay. Thanks for hosting us .. cheers !!
