La Quinta Monte Carmelos is a three bedroom, two bath mountain Chalet situated just inside La Parque Nacional Quetzales. The region is a temperate coniferous forest, not what comes to mind when thinking of Costa Rica. Just two hours from Juan Santamaria International Airport, and two hours further to Playa Manuel Antonio, La Quinta is perfect for those that want to see more than just beaches without an extensive amount of driving.
Our three bedrooms are one king, one twin, and one single bed with cable TV and internet connection. Or maximum capacity is for five individuals but arrangements can be made for parties of 10-15. Both bathrooms have hot water showers.
Interaction with guests
With a deck and a patio we have lounge chairs and hammocks for post run relaxing, bbq’ing, rainbow gazing, or just time watching the swarms of hummingbirds feed.
The temperature ranges from 55 degrees to 75 degrees Fahrenheit year round. Make sure to pack pajamas as the nights can be chilly! From day to day the weather is generally sunny but prepare for rain showers occasionally. Also pack long sleeves and pants as the sun does not always provide enough warmth.
Other things to note
Ideal for those that love the outdoors, love to hike, love to run. Situated at approximately 6,600 feet (2,000 meters) above sea level those looking to do altitude training will feel like they are in heaven, or close to it. There is a network of abandoned dirt roads that surround the house and accompanying towns. One can spend hours exploring the flora and fauna that are a part of La Parque Nacional Quetzales from one of a kind Orchids, Tolomucos, and the rare Quetzal bird. Suggested running routes can be provided as we are competitive runners that have hosted altitude camps and have done extensive running throughout the area.
