We had a wonderful time at Barbara's home! The room was beautiful and impeccably clean, cleaned daily. Nice to turn on the AC after a very hot day walking outside. The room opens up to a balcony facing the street and its a delight to sit there and listen and observe the rhythm of the daily lives of people of Havana. Carmita and Nora prepared a delicious breakfast and were super helpful as we navigated news and had to re-organize travel due to the Hurricane Irma predictions. The location is also great, 3 blocks from plaza vieja, close to a money exchange, etcsa (where you buy internet cards) and all other important amenities for us tourists. I hope to return to Havana soon and will definitely stay there again!

Bárbara has a beautiful house with a lovely, helpful staff. The location is great, a short walk to Plaza Vieja. The street it is located on is a busy one so not a bad idea to bring ear plugs if you're a light sleeper. I would defiantly stay here again. The breakfast in the morning was much more than I was expecting; delicious, and always fresh. Great great place! I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Havana.

We loved staying at this place while visiting La Habana! Barbara is a sweet and caring person, always with a beautiful smile. The house is very nice and located close to Plaza Vieja, just a short walk and you're there. The breakfast they make is delicious, the place is super clean and you feel the Cuban charm every single second of your staying! Thank you Barbara for a wonderful experience! <3

Bárbara's place was fantastic. She and her staff were incredibly helpful and we loved talking and joking with, and learning about Cuba from them. We stayed here our first night in Cuba, spent our second night in Vinales, and returned to Bárbara's place for our 3rd, 4th, and 5th nights. Havana is one of my favorite cities and Bárbara and her husband contributed to that conclusion. From arranging our shared taxis to Vinales and Trinidad at great prices, to making dinner reservations for each night in Havana before we arrived (including the sometimes difficult to get into places like La Gaurida, San Cristobal, and FAC), and helping us buy cigars, they were truly the best. When we arrived that first night, they had left a free bottle of wine for us in celebration of our anniversary. If you don't speak Spanish, Bárbara and her husband speak sufficient English, which was very helpful. Even if they are not at the home, there is always someone there and they can easily reach Bárbara or Noel (her husband) to translate. I spoke some Spanish, but this proved very helpful to my boyfriend whose Spanish is limited to "hola." I also can't say enough about the women that work for Bárbara and the nightguard, Luis. SO much fun with them. Breakfasts are enormous and truly the tastiest meals we had in Cuba. Perfect fuel to tackle the town and will no doubt appeal to anyone's tastes with the diversity of breakfast foods. Everyone was so patient with us and our uncertainty, from not being sure exactly what time we wanted a taxi to leave Havana, to being late for breakfast. Ha. We stayed in the room that opened up directly onto the balcony (which is a long, shared balcony with the rest of the home). Despite all 3 rooms in her house being booked every night, we rarely saw the other guests and might as well have had the home and balcony to ourselves. The neighborhood offers a true glimpse into typical Cuban living and families. It wasn't as loud as I expected it to be, and we had zero issues sleeping, despite being positioned right off the street. If you're easily bothered by noise and worried about it, just book one of the other 2 rooms, which are spacious and equally as nice as this one (but I think we had the special room given the balcony). This room (Hab. #1) also opens out to an additional private courtyard, which was really cool. So, 3 doors - one to the dining/living common area, one to the balcony that looks out on Cuba street (that is the street name, which may be slightly confusing to some taxi drivers), and one to the home's private courtyard area where there's a stairwell to the roof (which is currently under renovation and will no doubt be a fantastic addition to the house and experience once completed, with tables, chairs, and umbrellas to get a better view of...
