For me and my wife, travelling has been our main purpose until we opened this guesthouse. We still keep on hosting in its first meaning : that our listed rooms are in the property we are living. There are different floors so you will meet us only if you wish. We invested to obey our city hotel regulations and are not against government and laws that support citizens. We are living this life honestly, always try the best, and will welcome anyone with no discrimination, you are free to choose us !
We started the renovation in March 2013. It's basically a traditional Japanese house, where 3 generations used to live, it just feels good.
You can use the shared kitchen with all cooking tools, fridge, toilets, showers, aircons in dormitary and private single room. Lounge with Dvd, movies, guitar, some fitness and massage machines. You can do a laundry @200¥, use bicycles for FREE.
We will give you information on Kansai area, cheap discount tickets, cheap stores, we know all !
We feel in the center but without the stress, noise, and pollution, you can see the towers of Umeda over the river, airplanes in the sky. Take a bicycle to go downtown in about 20 min, one of the biggest shopping area in Asia, with new buildings growing every year, tons of restaurants, bars, clubs, and come back home enjoy the park which is really lovely, the river which has birds in the winter you can feed. You can also do a day trip in Kansai and come back, the Hankyu line is convenient. We love Mikuni so much because there's everything.
The closest station is Mikuni, on Hankyu Takarazuka line.
Neko Neko is 5 minutes’ walk from Mikuni station on the Hankyu Railway line, which is very convenient and cheap for exploring the north of Osaka, Kyoto and Kobe. But before you book, please make sure that our location fits with your transport plans.
For JR pass holders, the closest JR station is Shin Osaka. It is 2.8 km away and takes 35 minutes to walk. So it is not really convenient if you don’t like walking!
From Higashi Mikuni subway station we are 2.1 km away and it takes 25 minutes to walk.
If you are happy to walk, we recommend that you find a good map so you don’t get lost and waste time. From Shin Osaka, the Nissey building can be a good landmark to aim for. From Higashi Mikuni, aim for the Mikuni Arcade shopping street.
If you have a lot of luggage, taking a taxi from either of these stations will cost around 1000 ¥. We recommend avoiding taking taxis; drivers frequently get lost, don’t understand directions and may overcharge you!
Travel from Kansai Airport
Please be aware that Kansai International Airport is 50 km from Osaka city and it takes at least an hour to get to central Osaka.
Here are the travel options, in order of what we recommend:
1. The comfortable airport limousine bus 5 to Hotel New Hankyu, then a couple of minutes’ walk to Hankyu Umeda. Hankyu Railway to Mikuni (see How to find Neko Neko below).
Airport to Umeda, 60 min, 1,550 ¥ + Umeda to Mikuni, 7 min, 190 ¥
Timetable from Kansai Airport to Osaka:
2. The cheapest route is to take the Nankai line Express train to Namba (not the Limited Express – you will pay a supplement for this).
Buy your ticket in a machine at Nankai Kansai airport station.
Take the Nankai train to Namba. Then walk to the subway station and take the Midosuji line to Umeda. From Umeda, walk to Hankyu Umeda. Then take the Hankyu Railway (see How to find Neko Nekobelow).
Alternatively, you can take the Midosuji line to Shin Osaka or Higashi Mikuni to save paying the additional fare for the Hanyu Railway train to Mikuni. This way requires more walking (see Our location above).
Nankai Kansai airport to Namba, 1000 ¥ + subway to Umeda, Shin Osaka or Higashi Mikuni + Umeda to Mikuni, 190 ¥
3. JR line (Japan railway, Shinkansen, JR pass)
Take the JR Airport Express to Shin Osaka. From there, you can walk (35 minutes) or use the subway - take the Midosuji line one stop to Higashi Mikuni, and then it’s a 25-minute walk. Another option is to go to JR Osaka station, walk to Hankyu Umeda station and take the Hankyu Railway (see How to find Neko Neko below).
JR Airport Express to Shin Osaka+ subway to Higashi Mikuni
How to find Neko Neko
We are located near Mikuni station (Hankyu Railway).
Be careful – it is not Higashi Mikuni or Mikunigaoka!
Take the Hankyu Railway from Hankyu Umeda. It is the Hankyu Takarazuka line. Make sure you take the LOCAL train not the Express, for Takarazuka or Hibarigaoka, on platform 5 or 6. Buy a ticket for 190 ¥ before you get on the train.
The train often goes from platform 5 in the day and platform 4 or 6 sometimes after 6 pm. It is three stops to Mikuni, which takes 7 minutes.
At Mikuni station, take the North exit. After going down the steps, turn right out of the station. You will see a taxi rank in front of you, and to the left there is a police box – Koban. Go past the Koban (keeping it on your left) and turn right. Walk a few metres to the zebra crossing. Cross the road and go straight on. You will see a covered arcade of shops on the other side of the road. Just before Family Mart, turn left, walk past a children’s playground on the left and go straight over Mikuni bridge.
Turn right and walk along the riverside, crossing a small bridge.
We are located along the river, before a park.
At night you will be able to see the blue neon sign from the bridge.
Go down the steps and call us on the intercom.
Other things to note
We have two cats who are usually on our floor, or outside, but if you have some allergy, it can be difficult.
As we also want to give our best in order stay a quiet place for people in holiday, we DO NOT accept people who will choose our room as a business place, using Internet day and night and not communicating at all to other guests.
We are listing some rooms of our house renovated in 2013 and 2015. We would like to keep on travelling by meeting different kind of people and sharing what we can offer. You will be more than welcome.
