My place is close to Eastern Food Bazaar. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travelers.
Finding the apartment once getting out the lift was a hassle. The area is not great and there is a bad smell in passages and apartment.
Response from Mario:
Dear Matty, Thank you for your review. The apartment you have booked is located in a apartment block in the CBD of Cape Town. We can manage and assist with issues in the apartment but all of the communal areas and passages etc is totally out of our control as I am sure you are well aware of. Hotels manage and clean the entire building where as in this case, every apartment has a separate owner. I also noted you marked our location low, logically a guest booked a room, apartment in the area he / she would like to stay in. So you cant book my apartment and then give a bad rating for the location. That makes no sense at all. Also, I did say to you if you had any issues you are more than welcome to contact me at any time. There is also 24 hour security on site who could have assisted you with finding the apartment if you had any issues.
I was seeking a place to stay in Cape Town at the last minute. Mario responded to my inquiry straight away. There was limited availability of accommodation in Cape Town as a major international conference was on and most Hotels and other places were either booked or extremely expensive. Mario's apartment became unexpectedly available and on arrival in Cape Town I made a request using the easy to use AirBnb app - which is easier to use that's the website in my opinion. He responded within and within literally 20 minutes from initial inquiry I had arranged a to meet him at the apartment in the City Centre two hours after that. The apartment was properly clean and the description accurate. A loft-style apartment conveniently located right in the heart of the busy Central Business District and with therefore with many amenities: shops, cafes and restaurants close by. The apartment is located in beautiful Art Deco building and has been skilfully converted into residential. As the windows for the apartment face onto an internal courtyard the apartment is very quiet. Mario was a really great host. He explained to me where I could get various items and even recommended a great place to enjoy a drink on my last day. Moreover, joined me there to ensure I was ok and the trip had going well. I was working during the trip and needed internet connectivity. The apartment has a wifi connection and Mario explained that it was not currently very fast. It was ok for basic email downloading but as fast-internet was widely available in a number of cafés literally next door from the apartment - this was not a problem at all. He explained that the apartment was getting fibre connection in the future but the current arrangements work. The modern TV worked clearly and was able to watch the local news channels and particularly the momentous State Opening of Parliament in addition to various international channels. The apartment is spacious and well appointed - the loft bedroom is elegantly designed and gives a real impression of space - with a convenient work space in the loft area which can separate work from relaxing in front of the TV. The security personnel are on duty 24/7, they are helpful and welcoming, safety can be sometimes a problem in some areas of CapeTown, but not here. I would have no hesitation of recommending Mario and his apartment to anyone visiting CapeTown and particularly those who are combining work with a holiday. I was so pleased and relieved to have found him and the appointment. Thanks. Philip
I stayed at mario's place during the last days of my trip to capetown. The place is located in a good area, host is a friendly person. The apartment is nice with modern furniture. The day went there, there was lot of dust because of ongoing upgrade work in the building. Host tried to clean it but it kept coming in. It was kinda same for the whole stay. The price of the place is absolutely not worth it since there are better places for cheaper price around the city. (when compared to other places I stayed in cape town) Wifi was crappy and no phone signal inside the apartment. Which was quite disappointing. I extended my stay and mario suggested me to pay cash instead of booking on airbnb for the rest of the nights and gave me a better price. he asked to leave the cash in the apartment before leaving and I did so. Later on he said it was not there and requested me to pay money on airbnb. maybe to cover the discount he gave. but i did not pay more. Over all stay was okay, apart from this. Big disappoints were wifi, dust and money issue.
