Charming post-and-beam cabin located a short walk to one of the most beautiful lakes in NH. This is a great country getaway far from the hustle and bustle of city life. Plenty of summer and outdoor activities in the surrounding Monadnock Region. Enjoy the weekly contra dances at the Nelson town hall, concerts at the Apple Hill Center, swim to Blueberry Island from the Nelson landing on Nubanusit Lake, or paddle to an eagle nesting and portage into undeveloped Spoonwood Pond.

The space

Cabin has an open layout with two bedrooms, 1.5 bathrooms, cathedral ceilings, screened porch, and a large kitchen with new appliances. The larger bedroom has a queen size bed and the smaller bedroom has a full. All clean bedding and towels are provided. Please note that the 7' wall between the two bedrooms does not fully reach the cathedral ceilings.

Guest access

Guests have full access to the property and house amenities. Guests may use the washer and dryer located in the basement.

A canoe and two hard-top kayaks are available upon request. However, please note that should you use the boats, you will need to transport them down to the lake landing (approx. 1/2 mile down and up a large hill).

Interaction with guests

The owners live 40 minutes away. I am available as much or as little as the guest desires. I am available through e-mail or by cell.

Other things to note

Please note that this cabin is in a rural area with very limited cellphone service.

Also, please note that the house uses well water and that the water has a high iron content (area-typical). Fridge is stocked with spring water.

Amazing place in a tranquil setting. It was perfect for a weekend getaway with my wife and two daughters.

We had a great time at Mira's house. Mira is a very good and responsive host. Her house is very nice, artsy and private and very near a beautiful lake (short and pleasant walk). It's in a perfect location: surrounded by trees, in a tranquil area but, also, very close to Keene, Harrisville and Peterborough. We hope to stay at Mira's house again in the near future.

We enjoyed our stay in this cool, artsy house located in a quiet neighborhood near a beautiful lake. Mira was a responsive and thoughtful host who left us detailed maps and tips on local activities and eateries. Thanks to Mira's generosity with her boats, we were able to explore the lake with our kids. We discovered a pick-your-own raspberry farm just down the road. Although we didn't have time to venture far, we're sure there are many more delightful discoveries to be made in the area!

This place is a gem! If you want some time away from the crazy pace of life, then this is where you need to go! A beautiful exposed beamed house that's got a ton of character set in the perfect location. Just a short walk or super quick drive to lake Nubanusit which is better than you could imagine. Wether you just want to sit and enjoy the quiet sound of nature on the screened in porch or if you want to take the kayaks or canoe out on the lake to fish, Mira and Thomas have it covered. Their property is clean, maintained and peaceful. Not only that they go out of their way to make sure everything is to your liking and that you're enjoying yourself. They answered several questions from the time we booked through the entire trip almost Instantly. My family and I had Ana amazing 4th of July weekend here and are already talking about when we should go back! I'd recommend to anyone looking for a off the grid stay with family, that this is a prime spot!

Nested in a wash of lush trees and green ferns, the cabin had charmed us all into calm comfort even before our happy host bid us farewell. The night air of summer breezing cool through the screen windows echoed our attitudes over our dinner on the porch during the first night of our stay. Soft sheets on open beds surrounded us settling down for steady sleep. The first (only) full day of our stay, we walked down to the lake and searched out rocks to skip into the crystal cool water as we swam. The next morning, it was obvious that we'd all have rather stayed as we dragged our feet getting up and out. Luckily our happily hospitable hosts had hardly a word to say about our lazy departure other than wishing us well on our way. 10/10 would Charming Cabin again.
