Walking trails

As little or much as the guest desires.

West of our property it is two miles to downtown Blacksburg which we bike to all the time and half a mile from the convenience of First and Main shopping center. East of our seven wooded acres are more woods. Our property joins one of Blacksburg's nature preserves. This gives us a great vantage of privacy and forested beauty and quick access to town.

A car will suit most travelers. If you like biking or walking you can bike to downtown in 2 miles or walk to the grocery store and bus stop. I walk to the store and bike to town all the time but I don't mind the hill.

The Guest House is an in law suite that is attached to the main house. It has its own entrance as well as two sliding glass doors in the great room and french doors in the bedroom. So enter or exit any room as you like.

Quiet, secluded spot, great for a couple night getaway. Easy to get to town, close to movies, campus and shopping.

We had a terrific stay! The woodlands were beautiful, and the house was very clean, spacious, and comfortable. I really appreciated the organic mattress and non-toxic cleaning products! There was a lot of open space inside the great room, outside and on the decks for our toddler to run around, which was a big bonus while traveling. We also appreciated the peaceful nature of the space and surroundings, as well as connecting with Scarlett, Cavan and their daughter. Great people with a great place! We look forward to staying here again and can highly recommend it.

Scarlett and Cavan's guest cottage is the perfect place. It is very close to town but is tucked away up on a beautiful wooded piece of land. The views are gorgeous, and the cottage is comfortable and cozy with lots of light. It was everything we could have hoped for! Scarlett and her family were so welcoming and friendly. We really enjoyed visiting with them and learning more about Blacksburg. This was the perfect place! We will be back!

This is what I would call a in-laws quarters, built on to the main house where the owners live. Its a couple of miles from town in a somewhat secluded residential area - surrounded by woods. There is apparently several acres of land with trails, but we didn't explore because we came in February and it was cold and windy. The house itself is very spacious and comfortable. There' s a nice back deck. The kitchen is modest but suitable for a short stay. The bedroom was very roomy and comfortable. There's a nice skylight in the bedroom that lets you look up and see the stars at night. The owner, Scarlett, visited with us for a few minutes as we were leaving. She and her husband are artists. Some of his work is on display in the unit. They seem like really cool, down to earth type people. There's also a friendly dog who will come by to visit. She seems to know to stay on the deck, unless you invite her to come in. Overall we had a very pleasant weekend and would definitely recommend this property. Will & Robyn

The local hotel prices are expensive, so if you plan to use the additional amenities: wrap around porch, kitchen and two foutons to sleep more people, it is a great place and great value. However, if you're like us, two people coming for a rainy winter day and not planning to use the kitchen, it seemed a little overpriced based on the quality. Overall, nice and clean and great proximity to Blacksburg.

My husband and I are attempting to create a very lovely life on 8 acres in Blacksburg. We host vistors year round in our beautiful in law suite. Cavan is an oil painter. I have a small counseling practice. We have a two year old and are lucky enough to share three meals a day together most days of the week. Cavan is also an excellent chef.
